Experience Description

Me and my boyfriend of 4 years had just arrived at a country music festival in Florida. The weather was starting to turn bad and they advised everyone to leave your seats and shelter under cover by the concessions. There were tons of people crammed in a small area. As we all looked out towards a now empty stadium, lightning struck a cable right in front of me running the width of the stadium. I immediately felt like something was wrong and told my boyfriend I have to sit down.

Then all of a sudden everything went white. I was now leaning on a fence overlooking my childhood friend's family's pasture, but I'm with God. He is beside me and we are having the best conversation I have ever had. I am happy and at complete peace. I don't ever see God's face. I see him in my peripheral vision as we are both staring out at the pasture. Then we turn around and now we are staring at a setting sun and there's a road and an oak tree.

Out of the beaming sun came two figures. It was a Moses-like figure in a white robe holding a little boy's hand. The boy was about three years old with brown hair. I believed the figure to be Moses; he was old with a long white beard and long white hair; and felt like Moses to me. As I looked out towards them, they started walking away towards the sunset. I wanted so badly to go with them, but I was not allowed to do so. It was at this moment that I was thrown back into my body and woke up with paramedics all around me.

I was extremely sad when I woke up in my body; even angry that I had come back. I was more concerned with what I saw above, than what was happening to me medically.

After the event, I broke up with my boyfriend of 4 years because of how he responded in a life-threatening situation. I realized this man cannot take care of me in a crisis. Then later that year, I met my now husband. We had a little brown-haired little boy that took us three years to conceive. Also about my childhood friend's family's pasture that God and I were in. Their last name is 'Lord.' So we were quite literally on a fence overlooking the Lord's pasture.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes
The doctors think a medication I was taking caused me to have a seizure which caused loss of consciousness, arrhythmia, and vomiting while unconscious. This was a life threatening event.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? I lost awareness of my body

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? It felt real more so than reality. It was the most clear thing I have ever experienced. The whole experience. It felt more real than reality. This happened 10 years ago and it is in my head like it happened today.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

Were your thoughts speeded up? No

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
It felt like me and God had talked all day long and the sun was setting but I did not want to leave the conversation.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

I was Christian before, and now I am just focused on God, not so much Jesus. Jesus was not who I saw. I believe in Jesus but not as God like many Christians do.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes
I am certain of God and uncertain about how to look at Jesus. I think Jesus was real and everything happened, but I am with God now; I did not have to go through Jesus to know Him.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
I felt God and saw Moses and a boy

I was in God's presence and I saw Moses and a little boy

I felt that the fence was symbolic that I was just allowed to look but not enter, that it was not my time.

There is a heaven or place that we go to when we leave here, but there is also a place where you exist before you are born.

I had a sense I was on the wrong path with the person I was with and the experience gave me clarity during and after.

It is hard to deny the overwhelming love that God is showing you in that moment. Love is truly the purpose of it all and what fuels the universe.

I was with God overlooking the Lord's pasture

It is hard to deny the overwhelming love that God is showing you in that moment. Love is truly the purpose of it all and what fuels the universe.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my life
I got married and had one son. I walk in gratitude with God and talk to Him every day. I am extremely grateful for existence, even in times that are hard. I now long for the peace that I experienced and have tried to create a life that is much slower and peaceful, and I have done that. I now journal to God. I call it my prayer journal. I am very close to God.

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes
I left my boyfriend immediately after, and the next guy I dated was my husband

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience
It is more real than a memory

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? It is pretty crazy that God brought me to the Lord's pasture and it being my childhood best friend and neighbor's family pasture and their last name was Lord. It is almost poetic and comical while at the same time nostalgic for me. And yes, a place I would find peace, comfort, and love.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes
Yes, it took me like eight years before I told my best friend about it, the one whose family's pasture I was in. He did not believe in God, but after I told him what happened, he changed his mind on God and now believes and has explored NDEs and other people's stories.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was probably real
The experience became more meaningful as time went on

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real
I did not pick up on being in the Lord's pasture until I wrote the experience down and was trying to explain I was in the Lord's pasture; just writing it as my friends family whose last name is "Lord". And then it hit me... I was in the Lord's pasture. That happened like 8 years after the experience. Also, me having a little boy, it taking 3 years to conceive, and also my little boy looking just like the little boy holding Moses' hand.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? Yes
My son was the little boy Moses was holding his hand. My son was with Moses before he came to me.
