Experience Description

I felt very weak and out of it. I felt like I was going to pass out, so I decided to take a nap. I was lying on my bed when I was suddenly pulled out of my body. I looked down and saw my body lying in bed.

I turned toward the ceiling and was enveloped in a warm, bright, soothing light. It was unbelievable. I felt peace, calm, and love, with no pain or stress. This is not easy to describe because I was just energy and was not in human form.

I was being pulled into the light. As this was happening, scenes from my life played before my eyes as though I were watching a movie. I saw many friends and loved ones, both those still on Earth and those who were deceased. There was no feeling but peace and love. I had no fear.

I continued to be pulled toward the light. I stopped at the end of the tunnel, or whatever path I was on, and experienced the most fantastic light I had ever seen or felt. I realized that this was an exit point for me. At that point, I said, “I am not ready yet. Send me back. I’m not ready.” I was not fearful. I just had a lot more to do in my human life.

Suddenly, I was back in my body and jerked awake, or back into consciousness. After this, I went to a cardiologist. There was an issue with my heart, and I was hospitalized for a few days until I was stable and released to return home.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes
I was recovering from heart surgery. I was not feeling well and decided to take a nap. That is when it happened.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? When I got pulled into the light and started seeing my life review.
I was ill and very out of it for a while before this.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
There was no time. I had no idea how long the event was. I really did not care about time. I just felt and enjoyed the peace and love.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience Every day I wear glasses for distance vision and sometimes have blurry eyes from allergies. This experience was beyond crystal clear.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience My hearing is very strong normally. I did not hear anything during the experience. It was more visual and feeling.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes
I feel it was like a tunnel. A bright light pulled me up.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased beings? Yes
I saw scenes of my life from birth to that day. I saw friends and relatives, some alive at the time and some passed on.

Did you see or feel surrounded by a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes
So bright, warm and peaceful. Hard to describe. I could feel it immediately.

Did you seem to enter another world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm
Very bright and peaceful. Feeling of unconditional love. It definitely was not earth.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Peace and love, content far beyond anything on earth.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

I felt like I was one with everyone and everything. All I needed was love. I was and am love.

Did scenes from your past come back? My past flashed before me, out of my control
It was like watching a feature film starring me. Birth to present.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a definite conscious decision to return to life
I was almost at the end of the tunnel and realized this was an exit point for me. I just had a feeling it was not my time. I said, "I'm not ready yet, send me back, I'm not ready."

Spiritual, no organized religion. Raised Lutheran.

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience
I believe everything is energy and love. I was shown after human death that we just turn into pure energetic love.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes
I felt stronger in my beliefs. I don't fear death. Although I don't want to die right now because I still have so much to learn and do. When people I love die, I know they are truly at peace, experiencing and expressing love. I do not have to miss my loved ones. They are with me in spirit. I can communicate with them at any time. I feel their energy around me.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
Very bright, warm, peaceful light, no form or shape, all enveloping.

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? Uncertain
Again, it was unearthly light.

Not sure.

The unearthly bright peaceful loving light was the universe (or God or whatever term). It was all knowing, all powerful and all loving. It made me feel like I was a piece of that being. I am love.

Hard to explain any of this. But I am here to experience challenges that make my soul grow into a deeper love.

Everything is energy. I am love. I can create my own reality. It was mostly all about unconditional love and that I need to open my heart more.

During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? Yes
We are all energy. The strongest energy is love. I was able to experience and then return to my body. So, I knew that there was a place for me after death and it is not some big black void.

During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? Yes
Trouble and challenges are learning experiences for the soul. They are only temporary if the lesson is learned. If the lesson is not learned, the challenges repeat until the lesson is learned. It's all in love.

See all the above answers. Love is all encompassing. After death, souls are pure love. The universe has nothing but love for everyone and everything.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my life
The experience solidified my prior feelings and thoughts. It was a validation. No one should fear death. Our souls all live on in light and love.

More love and compassion towards people, pets, the world.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes
No earthly words can describe what I saw and felt. This was more of an energy change, like I changed form.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience
Everything was so vivid and the feelings were overwhelming. This is something a person never forgets.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes
Better able to understand, feel and share energy and energetic healing. After this experience, I became a Reiki Master Teacher and also a practitioner in other energy healing arts. I also sense things and events accurately before they happen. Sometimes this is through prophetic dreams or gut feelings while awake and conscious.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes
I shared with my spouse the same day it happened. I was very ill after my heart surgery and needed medical attention. He was fascinated by my experience.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes
I knew it existed but I was not researching it or even thinking of it in my daily life.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real
I experienced it. It was definitely real. I have never seen my body consciously when I was not in it, not even in dreams. It is difficult to explain.
