Experience Description

I was about four years old at the time. I decided it was a good idea to play hide and seek with my mother. I found a spot in a navy footlocker. It was very small, yet fit perfectly in there. When I closed the lid, the lock somehow latched from the outside. My mother found me in the footlocker and tried to open the lid. The lid would not open. Unfortunately, she did not have a key to open it either. She started panicking and tried to explain to me how to open the lock from the inside. I could not see anything and could not understand what she was saying. I was horrible with verbal directions, and I am sure at age four it was even worse. I started panicking because she was panicking. I was losing air during that whole time. At some point, I lost consciousness.

Then, I was no longer in the trunk. I was now surrounded by bright, soft orangish, peach-colored light. I had no body and just seemed to be floating about. With this light came a figure that seemed to have been a short tiger wearing a black gi with white collar trim. There was no speaking, but I could hear him in my mind the whole time. I had no questions because it seemed natural to be in that state, very familiar even. It was explained to me that I could give up now and start all over, or I could continue on and finish what I started out to do. He told me that I had chosen this life. That I planned everything that happened and happens to me. Then I was shown all the major key points in my life. That I would be a teenage mom, get married young, and be a survivor of domestic violence. I would then meet my soul mate and have a daughter with him. That was as far ahead as I was shown but I was assured that after I met my soul mate, I would be happy. They told me that I would always have a guide by my side to help me make life's tough choices. During this experience I felt nothing but absolute love, peace and an amazing sense of calmness. But after what I had been through previously, I did not want to start over just to do everything all over again. Consequently, I chose to come back and to finish this mission I had put myself on apparently. Once I made the choice, I was immediately back to my body in the trunk. My hand was guided to the lock and slid it open. The lid popped up and out I came.

Now you may be asking why would a four-year-old not be happy? I had gone from being your typical happy four-year-old to a homicidal, emotionless, hate-filled four-year-old over a matter of a couple of days. I was put through horrendous sexual assault that killed me on the inside. I went to therapy, but nothing seemed to work for me. The trunk sure did though. Knowing that one day, I would get to be happy was enough to carry on for the moment and see where this was going to take me. I was still filled with hate and rage, but not willing to go through with taking a life.

Immediately after this experience, I remember being taken to church for the first time. As I was listening to everything going on, I just remember thinking to myself, 'They are all wrong, none of this makes any sense.' From that point on, I have come up with my own theories on the universe and what God actually is. I had obtained a knowing of things without knowing where this knowing had come from. As I aged, it got more frequent. Everything in my preview has come true and I am now finally truly happy.

I was given a sense of knowing things, not precognition, but like how elections would turn out, why the sky was blue, how people truly felt about things, and how to change their minds.

Did scenes from the future come? I was shown I would be a teenage mom, a victim of domestic violence, meet my soul mate, and have my daughter. I was also given a vision later on when I was pregnant with my first child that if I kept him, I would end up dead in a ditch with a needle in my arm.

I had no belief system. When the experience happened, it felt familiar, like a return home.

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain
When the experience happened, I don't know if I shared it with my mother. I had kept this story to myself, as far as I know, until I was an adult, and since then I have been able to explain what happened.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience
This memory has been with me for over forty years, and as other memories have fallen off, this one remains the same and feels like it happened yesterday.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Uncertain
I was given a sense of knowing.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? When I was shown my future, it made me assured that I would be okay. It always stayed with me. I almost didn't think any of it was real until I started hitting those key points in my life. As more things became true, the more assured I was about finally becoming happy.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes
It wasn't until I was an adult (35 years old) and realized that what I actually had was an NDE. I shared with my spouse and he believed me immediately. His views are on the metaphysical side to begin with, so he was very understanding. The friends I have shared the experience with have been in awe of my story.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was probably not real
As I was so young, I wasn't sure what had really happened. I think I thought it was just a very, very vivid dream that never left my head.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real
Once hearing other people's stories, I realized that I may have had one as well. I believe I had this experience at a young age, so that I could question and philosophize about life and the universe. It has been something I've been fascinated with since I had this experience.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? Yes
I had a very high dose of mushrooms and the whole experience was brought back to me in vivid detail. Things I had forgotten were brought back into view. But the feeling was the same, nothing but love and a sense of kindness.
