Experience Description I have some heart issues; arrhythmia, aortic stenosis and a potential aneurysm. After an evening of very heavy drinking, I passed out on my bed. Suddenly, I found myself walking down a hallway. The hallway looked like the sort of institutional design you would commonly find in school buildings that were built in my area in the 1920s with muted color tile-walls and floors and not particularly well-lit. Yes, it was more real than real, that's why I'm sure it was an NDE rather than a dream. My mental clarity was amazing. I had no distractions or random intrusive thoughts. Emotionally, I felt nothing; but I had a mental certainty about where I was and what I was doing. I wasn't in any way frightened or uncertain. I simply knew I was to go down the hall to the 'waiting room of death'. I came to a door on my right and went in. It was a small, bare room in the same 1920s institutional style as the hallway. It was maybe the size of a 14' x 14' room. There were some plain, rigid desk chairs along the walls. In the center of the wall to my left was another door. I didn't think anything about any of it. There were people sitting in some of the chairs and I could look at them in different ways. I could see them simply as ordinary people, or I could 'look deeper' and see them as something like slowly moving clouds of colors sort of mapped to their bodies. The only person I recognized was sitting right next to the door that I understood to be the "exit" to death. He was someone I had encountered briefly a couple of times. I'd played on a softball team with him in junior high and run into him once several years later when visiting a friend who was at college. I sat down, all the while not thinking anything about any of this. I have no sense of how long or short a time I sat there. Suddenly I awoke in my body, with my heart pounding wildly in extreme arrhythmia. I 'hung on for dear life' and after a while everything came back to normal and my heart found its rhythm. That was all there was to it. I was already interested in spiritual things, but after this I took an interest in NDEs. I had previously thought NDEs were nonsense, now I knew differently. And life went on. Background Information: Gender: Male Date of NDE: 00/00/1983NDE Elements: At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event?
