Experience Description

It was December 17, 2019. I had just returned from a business trip. My mother had become a nursing case and was living in a small town 100 kilometers away. My wife and I were planning to visit her for Christmas in three days. That was the plan.

On December 17, 2019, I returned from a client meeting and sat in my office to finish the report and invoice. Over the years, I had developed this little ritual. It was my last client meeting of the year, and I shut down the computer feeling satisfied. Now, Christmas could come.

After closing my laptop, I suddenly felt sick out of nowhere. I didn’t know where this discomfort came from, but it unsettled me. I wondered if I was having a heart attack. I had worked a lot, and it had been a tough year. I asked myself if I should call an ambulance as the nausea grew worse. But inside, I was strangely calm. I told myself, "No, this has nothing to do with my heart."

I went to the sofa, sat down, and leaned back. The nausea was still there. I looked through the large window, breathed deeply, and grew calmer.

Then tunnel vision set in. I couldn’t close my eyes as I stared into the darkness. Suddenly, I was moving through a tunnel. I didn’t know who was around me, but I took hold of a hand. We walked straight ahead into a wonderful white light that was radiating kindness. In the light, our hands separated. I returned to my body.

I shook my head, and the nausea was gone. At first, I didn’t know what to make of it. I was still sitting on the sofa when my phone rang. It was my father, telling me my mother had just passed away and that I should come. "Wow," I said to him. "I know, I was just there." It suddenly became clear to me.

Two hours later, I arrived and saw my mother lying peacefully in her bed. The neighbor was still there and took me aside, saying she had something to tell me. She had been with my mother since that afternoon and said she had been doing very well. She even wanted to get out of bed, telling the neighbor, "Klaus is coming by today." The neighbor reassured her, telling her that I wasn’t coming until Christmas in a few days since I still had business trips. But my mother wouldn’t be swayed.

Four hours after that conversation with the neighbor, I was there. She had been right, and I’m proud I could accompany her on her final journey.

I let go of the hand, as I was only a companion, that much was clear to me.

I still remember exactly how I came back from the 'trance' and immediately my father's cell phone rang, telling me that my mother had died.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? I was surprised by the strength of my mother's call to go with her. When the incident occurred, I was still completely in the head and mind; I had just written reports and invoices and was not in a meditative state.

I didn't know anything about NDEs before. But I told my family and good friends about my experience.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real
The physical discomfort I experienced (spontaneous nausea) was palpable, and walking through the tunnel was authentic. I returned just as spontaneously, and the nausea immediately disappeared.
