Experience Description

It was quite a warm day; the sun was shining and kissing my skin. I had worn a hot pink swimsuit that day, as I had prepared to face the waves. My parents had taken me and my siblings camping yesterday. As soon as we woke up and ate breakfast, we went to the beach. I no longer remember the beach's name but I remember its look and feeling. It had hot, yellow sand that burned the bottoms of my feet, and behind me were thousands of white rocks. They were shaped like pebbles but the size of a roll of toilet paper. I didn't realize how heavy they were as I picked a couple of the rocks up. The sea was full of freak waves that could topple even a towering lifeguard chair if there was one.

I ran into the water to get out of the hot burning sand and cool my feet off. My mother stood on my right laughing in the wet sun. My father was on my left side putting on goggles. I no longer remember where my sibling was at the time.

Suddenly, a massive wave crashed over me and took me down below the water. It shocked me for only a second, but then I felt calm. I could see under salt water perfectly fine without pain which was quite unusual. I thought, “So this is the end. How peaceful. Mom and dad, I love you.” I still don’t know exactly why I had immediately accepted my fate back then, but I remember how beautiful it was. While my body was slow falling, the water seemed to shine bright white and green. The sun must have been shining just above me at the moment. But just as I was giving up, two hands grabbed me; one hand on my right and the other hand on my left.

While I was dazed, my parents pulled me up and out of the ocean as they rush me to the beach. My parents tried to make me cough up water in my lungs but there was none because I kept my mouth shut the entire time while underwater. I still remember the wet, salty hair clinging to my neck and the wet swimsuit clinging to my body. Although all those memories are blurry now, I don’t remember it as some traumatic experience.

Afterwards, I described what the beach looked like, me running into the water and me being saved.
