Experience Description I was in Las Vegas for a 50th birthday celebration. I had four drinks, which was a lot for me, but not enough to impair my ability to think clearly or function. Drinking that much was unusual for me. I gave in to the social pressure of those around me, although I take full responsibility for that decision. I remember thinking that my last short drink tasted strange. I had already told everyone it would be my last drink, so I finished it anyway. I completely ignored my intuition, even though I felt an intense warning not to drink it. Shortly afterward, I went to the bathroom. My next memory was of floating up the stairs from the main floor bathroom back to the party room that had been rented for the celebration. I saw people, heard them talking, and even remember trying to speak with them. However, I later learned that I had never returned to the party. When I did not come back, two of the women went looking for me. They found me slumped over on the toilet. During the experience, I saw luminescent places and people. I also saw my husband, although we were in the middle of a divorce. He was standing near the stairway, waving for me to come back downstairs, and I understood that he wanted me to return to my body. At the time, he was actually on a cruise ship. I later learned that he had become seriously ill and was confined to the cabin assigned to him. I briefly saw my children on the cruise, although they were traveling separately from their father. I also saw Gregory lying in bed in a cabin on the ship. I did not experience a full life review, but I had thoughts about both the past and the future. In particular, I reflected on our divorce and had the overwhelming sense that it was not supposed to happen. My next memory was of the women waking me up. One of them was panicking and telling the others to get a couple of the men. Two of the men then helped me back to the hotel, one supporting each side of me because I was physically unable to walk on my own. That was another reason I believe my memories of returning to the party were part of an out-of-body experience rather than physical events. As they walked me back to the hotel, everything appeared extraordinarily vivid and real. At first, I assumed this heightened perception was caused by whatever drug had been slipped into my drink. It may have contributed, but I honestly believe it was my consciousness overriding my body, much as it had while I was out of my body. The experience was nothing like a hallucination. Everything was hyper-real, with crystal-clear thoughts, clear reasoning, and coherent conversations. During this time, I also had flashbacks to the near-death experience I had on my twenty-first birthday, when something similar had occurred. I believe someone slipped a drug into my drink. This was nothing like a typical alcohol hangover, and I had not consumed enough alcohol to produce such a reaction. The last swallow tasted intensely bitter, and I have no doubt that something had been added to it. Because of that, I believe I had another out-of-body experience. At that point in my life, I rarely drank more than one or two glasses of wine a couple of times each month. I never cared much for alcohol. Today, I have not had any alcohol for the past six years because I do not believe anything good comes from it. This incident was completely out of character for me. I never drank excessively and rarely drank at all. I honestly disliked alcohol and only consumed it occasionally in social situations. I was never someone who drank until passing out or becoming sick. Years later, during an encounter with a deceased relative, I was told that I had been drugged that night. I also believe I received a vision identifying the person responsible, although I cannot prove it. Many of the men on that trip were friends of my ex-husband. I suspect they thought it would be funny to put a painkiller into my drink because the last large swallow tasted extremely bitter. I also believe they had no idea how unusually sensitive I am to medications. During surgery, I require only about half the amount of anesthesia doctors normally expect, or I have difficulty waking up afterward. I refuse to take narcotic pain medications under any circumstances. Even after my three cesarean sections, I used a patient-controlled analgesia pump for only the first twelve hours. After that, I managed with Tylenol and Advil. I never even filled the prescriptions I was given when I went home. By the time of my third cesarean section, I told the doctors not to bother writing a prescription. I made the same decision after my ACL knee surgery. As a nurse with a high tolerance for pain, I avoid pain medication whenever possible. I do not even like taking Tylenol or Advil unless it is absolutely necessary. Because of my sensitivity to medications, I believe that having a drug mixed into my drink could easily have caused this reaction. Once I was back in my hotel room, everyone left me there. I stayed in my room and slowly nursed myself back to health. From that point forward, I continued to feel drugged. The hyper-real vividness of the experience disappeared. I forced myself to get up and move around whenever I woke up. I also forced myself to drink large amounts of water and even set a timer to remind myself. The next day, I took a taxi to the emergency room. I sat there for a while but never received medical care. I was afraid the staff would assume I had done this to myself, which I absolutely had not. Because I was in the middle of a divorce, that possibility frightened me. For an entire year afterward, I did not drink even a single glass of wine because I was afraid someone might do the same thing again. I was not afraid of dying. In fact, I felt quite the opposite. However, I did not want to create another opportunity for death because I wanted to live. My children needed me, and being their mother was my greatest priority. I also wanted to spend my life with the friends and family members who would never behave in such a way. Eventually, I returned home by plane. I am no longer friends with anyone who was involved in that trip. However, the near-death experience and out-of-body experience remain clear in my memory. They were deeply meaningful to me. Afterward, my spiritual experiences increased, along with my memories of past lives and other unusual experiences. This was the second of my three near-death experiences. Background Information: Gender: Female Date of NDE: 03/15/2016NDE Elements: At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? YesI had 4 drinks at a private 50th birthday celebration, and that was a lot for me as I don't normally drink much (and don't at all in the last 8 years because it's medically unhealthy and it spiritually blocks me (and all people)). It was going to be my last drink and it tasted bitter at the end. I was slipped a drug in my drink. How do you consider the content of your experience? Both pleasant AND distressing Did you feel separated from your body? I clearly left my body and existed outside itSee experience description. How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? When I was out of body, and in the fresh air afterwards when I was being walked home... it's almost like I was still out-of-body but I was actually in it at that time... but very clear minded, coherent clear conversations, clear thinking, vivid vision, hyper-vivid senses actually in the body for a brief time once I re-entered my body. Every breeze, light, sound, breath almost felt alive. Could it have been the drug? Maybe, but I don't think so, because I think it was someone's painkiller they used... I didn't feel 'drugged' in my mind for a brief time... the body felt drugged and acted that way, but the mind was hyper-vivid and clear, like in my out-of-body, until I got in my room, then the mind felt drugged again, and I was super sleepy like when I passed out in the bathroom. Then the mind wasn't hyper-vivid and real anymore. I hope I am explaining it correctly. As a nurse, I know it was the 'consciousness' mind that was vivid, not an effect of any drug, because it was brief, and there is no reason I should have been so clear minded and coherent for that brief time with hyper vivid senses.See above. At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness? More consciousness and alertness than normal Were your thoughts speeded up? No Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaningTime lost all meaning, until I realized I was out of my body, then I realized I needed to go back because my body was in a different room on a different floor of the building. But even then time had no meaning or concept. Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience Everything was very vivid, clear, almost like hyper-real 4D for a brief time out of body, and a brief time when walking back to my room (but the body didn't work on its own, but the mind was very vivid and working very clear). Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience Everything was very clear and vivid out of body and a brief time in body. Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No Did you see any beings in your experience? No Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased beings? YesGregory, as described above only he was halfway across the world on a cruise ship. I encountered the living people at the party. At first I thought I was having a conversation with one woman and I thought she also saw Gregory but she doesn't remember that. Did you see or feel surrounded by a brilliant light? No Did you see an unearthly light? YesThere was more than one illuminated light here. It was like there were beings around, but no tunnel or light drawing me in. Did you seem to enter another world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realmI didn't go anywhere else, and at first I thought I was still in their realm because I was trying to talk to the people, but I realized that I needed to go back to my body and that they weren't really engaging with me. What emotions did you feel during the experience? It was pleasant out of body, happy, until I realized that I was out of body, then I felt an urgency to go back. Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Relief or calmness Did you have a feeling of joy? No Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? No Did you suddenly understand everything? No Did scenes from your past come back? I remembered many past eventsNot many, but some, yes. Did scenes from the future come? Described previously. Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No Did you come to a border or point of no return? NoGod, Spiritual and Religion: What was your religion prior to your experience? Christian - ProtestantChristian Have your religious practices changed? YesThey actually increased with this one. I can pray in tongues, get deeper in my meditative practice etc. I became more religious between NDE #2 and 3; so after this one more religious (but later became frustrated with religion and am now more spiritual). What is your religion now? Christian - ProtestantI'm not a practicing Christian. I don't believe the way others believe. I'm more spiritual. There are mystical truths in the Bible that are accurate, and Jesus' life story and lessons are important, but he is not God and I don't worship Jesus. I love God though very much and Jesus too. But he was human and an enlightened being but he isn't and wasn't the fullness of God. Just a part of God like the rest of us. I still say I'm Christian because some of my 'lessons' or messages from my experiences are truths found within that religion, but organized religion is made up of humans who are not perfect. We aren't interpreting the Bible correctly and 'Christianity has gone too far and not far enough.' and that 'all religions have God's truths in them and we need to come together and learn from each other.' People use religion to hate other religions and that's wrong and scary. Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experienceI didn't know or believe that our bodies could spontaneously leave the body like Gregory's perhaps did to 'save me' per se. Afterwards, I knew Gregory had been sick in his cabin on the ship. I saw him there, but I didn't see him with my kids when I saw them on the ship. I asked him about it later and asked him if he had gotten really sick one evening and asked if it was the same night, and he confirmed it was 'yes.' I knew... he didn't have to tell me. Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? YesI tried to work it out with my husband and we paused the divorce process. He went through treatment and I went to counseling together etc. I didn't like going to bars or anywhere 'dark' in energy after that at all. It was hard to be accepted in society when you are not participating in what society feels is 'normal' or 'acceptable' but I just had an overwhelming sense of family values and purpose in my marriage and profound love etc. I was always like that, but it was intensified, enough to stop the divorce process and try to do the work. Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? No Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? No During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? No During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? No During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? YesI just knew God existed, it was just a constant instant knowing he was all around. I could feel the connection but couldn't see anything.Concerning our Earthly lives other than Religion: During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? YesSee previously. It wasn't my time to die, and my purpose is to fight for my family. During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? YesI knew I was supposed to fight for marriage and family. Gregory's spirit either partially left his body when he was sick on the ship and was urgently trying to tell me to go back to my own body, or we do have some level of blending and my theory on that is different, but I'll stick to what actually happened. Of course he doesn't believe any of this. But I saw him as a vivid, colorful person on the staircase, with a faint mystical sense to him. Not like a full person, but almost, slightly luminescent, slightly translucent. That is what made me realize that I was also out of body because Gregory was trying to urgently wave me to go back down the stairs to my body. During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? YesDescribed previously. Did you gain information about how to live our lives? UncertainI don't think so, hopefully I didn't leave anything out. During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? YesSee previously. During your experience, did you gain information about love? YesI just felt love for everyone around me. But it wasn't the profound ineffable kind of love or infinite love that I've experienced in a subsequent NDE and OBE, but it was strong love for sure. What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my lifeI had no education or knowledge of NDEs, OBEs, etc. All my education came from profound knowing, personal experience, and angelic guides etc. It wasn't until 2022 that I started to actually read and research and went back to get a master's degree and PhD degree on the subjects. I talked about it years prior though. Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? YesI was less trusting after that. I was more loving of my husband and family and had an overwhelming desire to love them deeply (I always had that, but in the middle of a divorce, it shifted things and became a sole purpose). etc. I was not afraid to die, but I became fearful of people because of the events that caused the NDE. It was also difficult for others to understand the mystical elements of the NDE (like the OBE and seeing Gregory etc) because people wanted to say I was 'just drunk' but I wasn't. That wasn't it. And some people didn't want to believe I was drugged and I was careful to talk about that because I didn't want rumors and I can't prove who it was, so of course I didn't want to falsely accuse etc. But when I did express that, people didn't want to believe me that I really was. But in an angelic encounter later of a deceased relative, I was told that I was drugged then. Of course no proof to anyone else but to me. So that part is hard for people to believe also, not just the mystical stuff. So yes, part of me feels like I was assaulted and lost my voice. And the worst part is that the mystical elements were exciting to understand, and I'm not angry at all... the wisdom that came with it sort of trumps the trauma so to speak. But I can't even talk about that... which then makes it traumatic to lose your voice on that level also. So when I pursued my degrees, I found my voice and strength and found academic research to support my experiences... but it hasn't made it a ton easier with the people that mean the world to me because they just don't see things or get things like I do because I've experienced so much firsthand. In some ways, it feels like a blessing and a curse. To me it's more blessing... in my relationships... it is like walking a tightrope. I'm not sure what side each will fall on so I'm careful. It's hard to carry all this beautiful knowledge and wisdom alone (even though I'm not alone) since I'm a single experiencer of all of my events and encounters etc. It's hard. My social circle became much smaller. And if I lose my voice on some of this, it's like giving people only half of who I am. Which is why I cherish my 'fellow experiencers' because they get to see that side of me or at least discuss it with me without holding back. It's been hard to reintegrate with others but I feel at peace with myself. After the NDE: Was the experience difficult to express in words? YesSee above. How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experienceVery vivid. Very real. No doubt. Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes I've had some in life. I had an NDE in 1997 prior to this, but not as highly rated I don't think... but I have memories from childhood now. And with this happening in 2016, a profound experience with multiple angelic and deceased individuals in 2018 while I was in their realm but standing in my room, a transcendent experience in prayer meditation while lying down in 2018, and another full blown NDE in 2019 due to an assault. A spiritual assault prior to that where I was shoved and pushed nearly off a bed and then my body infiltrated in 2019 in New Orleans because I had opened myself up (permeable) when praying on the bed in my hotel room (I was the only human in the room and it felt as if a human was shoving me), encounters with several deceased individuals, some I knew, some more than once, some I didn't know, some were public figures once, etc. I had psychic experiences. I had precognitive experiences stated years prior that started to come true. Etc. There was a huge influx and an even bigger influx after the 2019 NDE/OBE that came after this one. This is NDE #2 of 3. Some of my most profound experiences aren't the NDEs actually... but in my research since 2022 I've come to realize that these experiences were partially triggered by the NDEs and the memory recall of many others (some completely forgotten until then and some just re-remembered). Etc. So, yes I have. Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? Seeing Gregory's spirit in the same room with me while I was also out-of-body. Have you ever shared this experience with others? YesI talked about it shortly afterwards, within a couple of days. But then stopped talking about the details because it was uncomfortable for others. Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely realI did question myself though, even though I knew it was real. I had no prior knowledge of things like this happening, so I had nothing to compare it to. I knew it was real, but just dismissed it because talking about it wasn't helping me or anyone at the time. What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely realNow it is very significant because I didn't realize that increased spiritual encounters or psychic type experiences can increase after an NDE and I didn't realize there were common 'characteristics' or 'aftereffects' that I now understand. I didn't know there was even a definition of an NDE or that it was an official term. Now I realize that an NDE isn't just the NDE and it doesn't stop with the event itself... that the aftereffects and the integration process are a part of it too. This was NDE #2 of 3 and a slew of other spiritual experiences and encounters (psi, mystical, anomalous, etc.) that have happened etc. So yes... now I view it as extremely important and significant because it is part of a larger picture and journey in life. This connects to many things. At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? UncertainMaybe to a different degree I had another experience with Gregory's spirit when he was not in the same building as me. I also had another more profound NDE from an assault in 2019. Did the questions asked and information that you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? YesYes. It would be helpful if you asked if we have had more than one NDE. This is #2 of 3 and that makes a difference in the meaning of my reporting I think. And the aftereffects that occur. Anything else to add? No.
