Experience Description

Having general anesthesia in the past with no complications, the anesthesiologist gave me Percocet and then handed my case over to the CRNA. For unknown reasons at the time, the CRNA gave me Versed, fentanyl, and then Dilaudid in the wrong dosage, miscalculating my body weight in kilograms. I woke up much later after surgery. I found out later that they had to do resuscitation efforts, including Narcan and other measures to revive me. I spoke to the post-op nurse about it, and she became emotional. The anesthesiologist, whom I’d never met before, confirmed the overdose and apologized six months later.

I had an experience during this time. I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin. I felt the presence of God, and also felt like I was a part of Him. I felt the presence of my brother and loved ones who had passed, but the conversations were nonverbal.

I knew I was given Narcan and nurse was shocked and confirmed it was administered.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? No, during general anesthesia no recollection whatsoever, but subconscious level, everything changed. I woke up after resuscitation with a total different view on brother’s death(2004)and other loved ones who passed away.
I feel it mostly in my gut.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience I still experience colors and sounds a lot more intense than before NDE. 2 years after NDE I took for anxiety Prozac 20mg and by reducing anxiety I experienced life even more. I felt music deeply, more present in my body. Anxiety related to NDE was due to CRNA overdosing me. Also finally processing my NDE helped along with the medication.

Coming back to my body wasn’t pleasant, I experienced sever anxiety being back in my body, hyperventilating, sad etc

I had to leave behind some beliefs which weren’t part of God or me anymore. I understood love and acceptance but also justice and creating boundaries. Wisdom, courage and stability of the mind

It’s hard to explain because words come as I still experience life here. In some way, the NDE knowledge/understanding I received reveals as this life unfolds

Coming back, the courage to talk about the abuse I’ve experienced and heal along with others willing to heal including those who hurt me. Also being able to have the strength to fight for justice

The view on death took a significant turn because of experiencing my loved ones in NDE especially my brother.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? The feeling of the experience remains within me. I’m still part of Love. I cannot undue what was done. This is who I am for the rest or my life on this earth

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes
I woke up the morning of my surgery and felt immense fear. I prayed and it went away. I felt peace and I knew I had to be in surgery and then experience NDE.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real
But I didn’t really want to talk about it. I felt intense grief(most likely for being overdosed) for 3 years until now deciding to go more into it.

More acceptance than grief, finally processing and talking about it makes it all better.

Yes in dreams very often but also my feelings often are intense but most likely not as much like during the NDE where is the real life
