Experience Description

I did not have a near-death experience. Instead, my recently deceased paternal grandfather spoke to me. I was walking up the path to my paternal grandparents' home. I could feel my grandfather walking behind me, as he often did when he was alive. He spoke quite loudly, "Watch out, Susie!" (My nickname when I was a child.)

I forgot in the moment that he had died. I looked up and down the road, thinking he was warning me about a car that might hit me. But there was no car in either direction.

I suspect he was warning me about my parents, who had considerable problems and caused me considerable distress. Eventually the only solution, after my daughter was born, was to cut them and my brother completely out of my life.

I wonder if others have experienced a loved one's presence, and if they have experienced their loved ones speaking to them after they have died.

I also have felt the presence of recently deceased relatives and friends. I woke up suddenly in the night, approximately ten years ago. I realized my fiancé had passed away. I hadn't seen him for almost fifty years. It was just as well. I've realized since that he had a borderline personality, which probably caused both of his marriages to end in divorce.

Years ago I was able to predict an unborn baby's sex, although I have no way of explaining it.

I did not have an NDE. All was normal. But I felt the presence of people I loved who had died or who were dying.

My grandfather's presence was felt behind me. I heard him speak to me in the same voice he had when he was alive.

I was raised Methodist. I took Bible studies in college and quickly became an agnostic.

I question religious teachings. I travel with space engineers who talk about space and its huge expansion. I believe that we may be in the midst of living first one place and then other places in the universe. It may be that each of us is a small part of a higher power.

I have an open mind. I find life to be so strange, that it seems anything might be possible.

I became aware that my deceased grandfather might be watching over me and was concerned about my future.

My grandfather was walking behind me, concerned about my future, which he had no control over. He warned me of problems that he feared would come as a result of my parents' severe emotional state.

My grandfather was apparently trying to warn me that my future might be difficult and that I was under threat, which turned out to be the case.

That my grandfather cared about me.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? No changes in my life
Nothing. I'm open to ideas and always have been. I believed as a child in Jesus' teachings. My business motto is 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,' which works. Follow Jesus' teachings and one creates a heaven on earth. I also believe that while we are here on earth there is something we are supposed to do. In my case it is to share the skills I learned in the fashion industry with the world. At present, because the industry uses assembly lines, most people, even in the industry, don't know how the whole thing works. I'm writing it down and presenting it to the world.

These two events were so strange that they are impossible to forget.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? I felt that those I cared about who had contacted me also cared about me.

It was what my grandfather and former fiancé would do.
