Experience Description

Prior to the experience, I had been taking prednisone for approximately one week and hydroxychloroquine. On the day of the event, I worked in a building with a broken air conditioner and was exposed to significant heat for much of the day. I did not drink enough water and ate very little. My food intake consisted of egg whites, some fruit, a few walnuts, a smoothie, and later a small slice of pizza. I missed both lunch and dinner.

Before arriving at Disneyland, I took my medications and walked approximately half a mile to the park. At times I had to jog to keep up with my family. By the time I arrived, I was already overheated, dehydrated, and had consumed very little food throughout the day.

While standing in line for an attraction, I began feeling unwell. I remember asking for a game to be played while we waited in line. My memory of the moments immediately before losing consciousness is incomplete. Family members later told me that I appeared confused, looked intoxicated, and was speaking while I was collapsing.

I then lost consciousness for several seconds.

During the experience, I became aware that I was no longer experiencing my normal physical reality. I had the distinct impression that I was outside of my body and observing from above. What stands out most strongly is the overwhelming sense of peace. There was no fear, no sadness, no anxiety, no regret, and no sense of suffering. Everything felt completely clear and understandable.

I was aware of my children and knew that I loved them deeply. However, I also felt a profound certainty that they would be okay. The worries and responsibilities that normally occupy my thoughts seemed completely absent. There was no urgency and no emotional distress. There was simply peace.

The experience felt extraordinarily real and vivid. I remember feeling that I could see everything clearly. The sense of calm and well-being was unlike anything I have experienced in ordinary life. I did not encounter deceased relatives, beings, tunnels, lights, or landscapes. The most significant aspects of the experience were the feeling of being outside my body, the clarity of awareness, and the complete absence of fear.

At some point, I became aware of my sister calling my name. My impression is that her voice drew my attention back toward my physical surroundings. I felt as though I returned when she called me.

After regaining consciousness, I initially stated that I was okay and wanted to remain in line. However, I quickly realized that I felt very ill. My sister guided me out of the line and helped me sit down. She positioned me with my head lowered and gave me fluids. I developed an intense headache, primarily in the back of my head. I was sweating heavily and was told that I felt extremely hot to the touch.

A short time later, I experienced severe nausea and vomited forcefully three times. Despite these symptoms, I did not strike my head during the event because my sister caught me as I collapsed. The only physical injury I sustained was a bruised shin.

Over the next several hours and days, I focused on hydration, electrolyte replacement, food intake, and rest. My headache resolved, the vomiting stopped, and I gradually felt much better. The experience remains vivid in my memory. What I remember most clearly is the profound sense of peace, clarity, and absence of fear that I experienced while unconscious.
