Experience Description My experience happened on Father's Day in 2016. My birthday was on the following day. I was getting ready to go to my in-laws' house for Father's Day. My wife was baking a cake and taking a shower when an overwhelming feeling came over me of needing to go to the emergency room (ER), along with some pain which kept increasing. I told my wife we needed to go to the ER, and she replied, "You're kidding." I was very focused on heart signs because I had 7 days earlier carried my best friend to his grave from what happened due to a widow maker heart attack. We headed to the ER which was 2 blocks away. While my wife was trying to park, I got out of the car and walked into the ER. I was met by a security guard that escorted me back to the ER. Then the nurse prepared me for examination. They gave me some morphine and a nitro pill. Not knowing I was supposed to put the pill under my tongue, I swallowed it. The nurse asked me if I was feeling better, and I said no. They did an EKG. The doctor came to me and said I wasn't having a heart attack. But, the pain continued. After multiple morphine doses, the nurse decided to switch the EKG machines and ran another one. Immediately, she ripped the paper off and ran it to the doctor. He immediately called for a helicopter to transport me to another hospital. He came to talk to my wife and asked her if she knew what was happening. She replied that she thought so, but please explain it to her. The helicopter crew arrived and prepared me for the flight and put me on their stretcher. As they were getting ready to wheel me to the copter, I started feeling myself fading. I told the nurse what I was experiencing. By this time my kids had arrived at the ER and were back visiting me. I coded. The helicopter nurse jumped on me and started CPR. My wife and kids were instructed to go to the waiting room. My wife refused to leave me, but the kids left. I remember feeling very peaceful and was in total darkness. I felt something tell me to not worry, and that I was going to be fine. And then I was back. My wife asked to have my kids return to say goodbye in case I didn't make it. I looked at my daughter and told her not to worry, I was going to be OK. They wheeled me to the helicopter and we took off. I was awake the whole flight, and I remember my son-in-law met me at the helipad and walked me to the catheter lab door. I passed out again. The next thing I remember is seeing what I presume was some light in the lab, and I was gone again. The next memory I have is being wheeled out of the lab heading to a room in the critical care unit.
