Experience Description

This was back in 2017. I was new to Christianity and I was figuring out how the universe worked and how God worked. Years before this happened, I would always ask God before bed, "Can I leave my body?" and this was not out of suicidal thoughts or anything like that, but curiosity. Eventually I gave up and thought maybe God didn't want me to experience it due to me not being ready or some other reason.

Anyway, one night I went to bed after any other usual day and I "woke up." But this wasn't like any other times I woke up. Something was off. I looked behind me and there was my body lying in the bed. I was confused. Why am I out of my body? Am I dead? What's going on? As I was looking at my body, I specifically saw the position of my cat sleeping on top of me and I noticed the position I was sleeping in too.

I slept in a basement, so I went up the stairs to my dad's room. It was dark in the house, yet I never ran into anything and I had no fear of the darkness. As I approached my dad's room, the door was cracked. Knowing I was out of my body, I was trying to wake my dad up. I kept saying "dad..." and louder I would say, "Dad!!" It's like he never heard me. I took note of the sleeping position he was in before I headed back down to the basement to my body. I looked at my body and thought, "How am I going to get back in there?" I climbed into the bed and I lay on top of my body.

All of a sudden I'm awake in my actual body. I look at my hands and feel my face to see if I was actually me. I was. I looked at my cat as he was sleeping on me. Same position I saw while I was out of my body. I thought to myself, "No way I just left my body..." I headed back upstairs to my dad's room again, the same crack in the door was still there. I peeked in to see his sleeping position to confirm my suspicions. He was still in the same sleeping position as I saw him while I was out of my body. At this moment, I knew that I truly had left my body.

Ever since that experience, I have studied NDEs and OBEs looking for a story to relate to mine. Everything I have learned has been very helpful and it has strengthened my faith in God much more.

I believed there was life after death. I have only recently discovered that a soul and a spirit are two different things, and I was in my spirit body
