Experience Description

I was escorted away from my body into a vast darkness by two beings. I wasn't fearful of the passage because of their reassuring presence. I felt safe and content to leave my body and go with them. They seemed male, clothed in glistening white tunics, mostly human in form but not solid as humans are here. They both had peaceful, kind demeanors. They escorted me to a room like an anteroom. I could detect crowds of spirits and divine music flowing toward a great light in another area, but that area was blocked to me. Still, I could hear magnetic music unlike anything I'd ever heard. It seemed three-dimensional and directional, flowing toward what I assumed was the creator. I was curious but understood that area wasn't part of why I was there. My guides immediately grasped my curiosity and gave off gentle amusement while redirecting my attention to the room we were in.

In this room, I felt awe. It was high-tech and streamlined, with walls like frosted glass block. There was a peaceful white that radiated gentle light. My spirit escorts seemed assigned to me and knew me intimately. I sensed they'd been with me always, at least since my birth on earth. One guide seemed more senior and communicated more with me. There were no words, but evidence of clear understanding, even of spontaneous questions.

The main answer provided was a godly perspective on the problem of evil. I'd struggled with the question, "If God is all-loving, how can he allow such horrors?" I was allowed to gaze into a high-tech, stacked-drawer system of time and history. I looked backward through thousands of layers representing intervals of time. The layers interacted and came alive as I viewed them. I could see individual layers and their vertical implications from past to present. Everything was intentionally woven together, forming a beautiful three-dimensional tapestry from above. Events that humans consider tragic were darker colors but didn't ruin the overall beauty because these events were a small part of the fullness of time. Seeing the continuity of events that were normally beyond human grasp, I accepted that all that occurs is part of an intricate tapestry woven through the ages.

I felt touched that God knew my anguish and sent these guides to help with my despair over man's inhumanity and God's seeming lack of intervention. In that room, my mind had no human limits. I absorbed information with perfect understanding. I wish I could have brought that ability back. I also wish I'd asked my guides' names, but I didn't because they felt so familiar at the time. Over the years, I've sometimes felt them at my side during times of distress. The experience showed me we are loved and watched over. God knows our every thought and action. I now believe in personal angels. Before this experience, I thought that was nonsense.

Background Information:

Gender: Female

Date of NDE: 1982

NDE Elements:

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? No

How do you consider the content of your experience? Neither pleasant NOR distressing

Did you feel separated from your body? I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? When interacting with the guides in the history-archive room and when viewing the archives.
I was totally me - I didn't feel my personality was altered, but I was granted the brain capacity to absorb an overwhelming amount of history and all its implications.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
I did not have a perception of time passing. It might have been one second: it might have been half an hour.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? More vivid than usual

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience Perhaps the word 'enhanced' best describes it. Since my vision I've heard people call it hyper-real. That is true. The haze and film of human existence is swept away and there is great clarity of thought and in perceiving.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience You hear thought-to-thought from one mind to another. Sound takes on multiple dimensions. My senior guide had the kindest voice though he wasn't speaking out loud.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? No

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain
It wasn't a tunnel, more of a vast non-descript darkness before arriving at the heavenly chamber.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I sensed their presence

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased beings? No

Did you see or feel surrounded by a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes
The light, like the music, has different qualities to light on earth.

Did you seem to enter another world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm
I've described it already.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Peace, intrigue, curiosity, wonder, aha!, a loving kindness, I felt 100% understood.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Relief or calmness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Happiness

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Did you suddenly understand everything? Everything about myself or others
Everything about life here on earth fitting together. Not about the universe, not about myself.

Did scenes from your past come back? No
This was not a life review and it wasn't specifically about my life. I could see my life in conjunction with all life as I flipped through the high-tech history archives (for lack of better phrase)

Did scenes from the future come? I did see some of what we will face in the near future, but the awareness of those things seemed scrubbed from my memory upon my return to my body. I can just hear skeptics saying,'Yeah, sure.' But, that is what occurred.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Yes
I wasn't given free rein. I was only allowed into one specific region. I overheard a vast heavenly choir and saw light pouring over the boundary of my chamber but I trusted my guides and didn't press.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a definite conscious decision to return to life
There was never a question in my mind. It was made clear by my guides that I was only there for insight/instruction and that it was a limited visit.

God, Spiritual and Religion:

What was your religion prior to your experience? Christian- Protestant
I did not doubt God's existence, but I was in a stressful, very difficult time.

Have your religious practices changed? Uncertain
It's hard to analyze this because I DID have the experience and I don't know how I would feel if I hadn't had it.

What is your religion now? Christian- Protestant
I am spiritually sensitive to God's will and purpose in my life.

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience
I had no idea of the intricate interconnectedness of all that is present along with the past and future.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes
As expressed already.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
The two being guides referred to.

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? No

During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? No

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Uncertain
I clearly perceived all the horizontal and vertical connections of all mankind's actions that create the overall tapestry of life on earth.

During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? Yes
Why else would guides have been sent to take me on this spiritual 'field-trip'? Also, on the other side of the boundary was such loving, majestic, magnetically attractive music and light. It had to be the active worship of millions of souls of a supreme creator. If I'd been allowed to go into that area, I doubt I would have been willing to return to earth.

Concerning our Earthly lives other than Religion:

During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? Yes
As previously described - pertaining to interconnectedness of actions and events down through time to create a beautiful tapestry.

During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? No

During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? No

Did you gain information about how to live our lives? No

During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? Yes
I've explained that above. I'm beginning to fatigue.

During your experience, did you gain information about love? Uncertain
This is a general, not specific, observation. The entire atmosphere and all that occurs is imbued with love. it permeates everything.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Slight changes in my life
This has been exhausting. I feel like I've been turned inside out.

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes
Everything we experience shifts who we are and who we are is the basis of our relationships, so it is a given.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes
It's nothing like earth. The materials, the atmosphere, the colors, the light, the music, the telepathy, the peace. It's like trying to describe another planet without the vocabulary to do so.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience
It seems branded in my mind but perhaps this is because, like a favorite book, I've replayed it so often to derive comfort.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? As expressed already.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes
Many years before I was willing to express it. Some gently reject with skeptism; some are blessed as I was.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes
I'd read R Moody's and E Kubler Ross's books as a teenager.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real
As I've heard others say, It was more real than this life. I felt that way.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was probably real
I'm a skeptic on these things. Could it have all been in my mind? Maybe? Didn't and doesn't seem so, but . . .?

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No

Did the questions asked and information that you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? Yes
Comprehensively and exhaustively.
