Experience Description

Before hearing the strangest story anyone has ever told me, I had never read a single book about near-death experiences or taken much interest in the subject. What I later heard from my daughter changed that completely. It sparked a deep curiosity, and over the years I have read many of the best-known books on near-death experiences and related phenomena. Sometimes I immerse myself in the topic for months; at other times I leave it alone for long periods.

I am currently reading "What Heaven Is Like". After learning from that book about this website, I decided to write down my daughter's story. I would like others to hear about what happened to her.

It has now been ten years since these events took place, yet the story still returns to my mind from time to time. The events took place in Tallinn, Estonia.

When my daughter was about three and a half years old, she became seriously ill with a very high fever. By the time the ambulance arrived, her temperature was 41°C (105.8°F). Some time after she recovered, she began telling me that while she was sick, she had seen a man in her room who had taken her with him. At first, I did not pay much attention to the story. It was only years later, when she was about six years old and brought it up again, that I realized how vividly she remembered it.

She told me that what she experienced did not feel like a dream. According to her, it had really happened.

While lying in bed, she first saw eyes appearing on the wall. Then she saw a wide-open mouth. Gradually, a man's face seemed to emerge from the wall, followed by a body that slowly took shape. Soon, a complete figure stood beside her bed. The man spoke in a calm, gentle, and reassuring voice and invited her to come along. He introduced himself as the "Guardian of Spirits."

My daughter said that the man helped her climb onto his shoulders. She remembered sitting there in a curled-up position, with her arms, head, and one leg hanging over his shoulders. Together they moved toward the window and then "flew" to the man's home.

She described it as a small red house with a flat roof, surrounded by a fence. Inside the fenced area were many stone slabs, each marked with a symbol of crossed hands, which she said was "their coat of arms." Inside the house were many interesting objects, including thick books and candles—not exactly the kind of things most six-year-old children would normally find fascinating.

She described the outside environment as dim and shadowy, yet not frightening in any way. There were many people there—grandmothers and grandfathers, as she called them. They were all kind to her and seemed to know who she was. According to her, they had strange names, nothing like the names we are used to hearing. She said they had no distinct colors and were simply "light." Everyone moved slightly above the ground rather than walking on it.

Of the return journey, she remembered only one thing: her guide told her, "You have to go back now."

The entire experience left her with an overwhelming sense of warmth, peace, and comfort, especially in connection with the man who had accompanied her.

As far as I know, no one else in our family, going back as many generations as I am aware of, has ever reported anything similar.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience I questioned the child repeatedly and also documented the matter in 2020. By now, her memory has faded so much that the things that were left unasked at the time can probably no longer be determined. So I just have to leave these questions as no or uncertain. What is your religion now? Unaffiliated - Nothing in particular - Religious unaffiliated

After the NDE:

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience less accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience
Because the child was only three years old at the time, some memories from that period have been retained, while other events and details have been completely forgotten.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Uncertain
I do not know whether it was because of this experience or whether it would have happened anyway, but my child has seen a spirit being on two occasions. The first time was three years after, and the second time was, I believe, about six years after it happened. Since then, she has not seen or experienced anything unusual.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes
My child tried to tell me about it relatively soon after it happened, but I didn't pay much attention at the time because she was so young. When she brought it up again a couple of years later, I listened with great interest and deliberately asked all kinds of questions. I am not sure how this experience has affected my child or how it may affect her in the future, as she is still only 13 years old. However, I can say that it had a profound impact on me personally. I would never have believed stories about near-death experiences if I had only read about them somewhere, without having heard about such an experience directly from my own child. I have never once doubted whether it really happened to her, because by the time of the experience I had spent every day with her and knew exactly every cartoon or movie she had seen, as well as every conversation with other adults that she had been exposed to. Up to that point, she had not had a single role model or source of inspiration that could have led her to invent or fantasize something like this. I am completely convinced that something exists after death, and I now believe that, consequently, God must also exist.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real
I remember that during that period, my child repeatedly told me, 'I swear to you, it wasn't a dream—it really happened.'

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real
She may no longer remember everything that happened in detail, but she still remembers the overwhelming sense of peace and well-being. It is a very strange thing for a small child to feel something like that while going with a "strange man".

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No

Did the questions asked and information that you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? Yes
I hope so.
