Experience Description

Gliding above, peace, and just a pass through. White, white light. I remember the content only in one part; the context and feeling has stayed with me to the present. I didn't see family members. I was like on a flat plane looking down onto my life. I was always above.

I was in the shower and believed to have had my first seizure. I would wake up, and it's a blur, but I remember being in the hospital next. My left eyebrow and forehead were hanging from my head, for lack of a better phrase. The entire timeline is a blur between remembering right before I had the seizure and several days after being at the hospital.

Background Information:

Gender: Male

Date of NDE: 01/08/2020

NDE Elements:

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes
Seizure and traumatic head injury, required surgery.

Did you feel separated from your body? I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? I remember one piece, not sure if at beginning, middle, or end.
I felt like I remembered what I had known prior but never remembered when 'alive'. Like waking up from a dream realizing that you're no longer in one. At least no longer in what you thought was 'real' while dreaming. Felt like a return to something familiar but forgotten.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

Were your thoughts speeded up? Faster than usual

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
Happening at once, and coming to me and me through it.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? More vivid than usual

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience It felt quicker. Very hard to remember or answer except that it felt quicker once I came back.

Did you have a feeling of joy? Incredible joy

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Like a child who scraped his knee or is afraid of needles, the perspective was from an adult rather than a child now. Nothing was horror or fear.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Uncertain
I don't recall.

God, Spiritual and Religion:

What was your religion prior to your experience? Unaffiliated - Atheist
I would say I was more atheistic in my views, ultimately agnostic.

Have your religious practices changed? Yes
Practices as in doing what I now know I 'should' do based on what I now know.

What is your religion now? Other or several faiths
Hinduism Buddhism

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience
I was incredibly in awe of how much 'it' was like 'it' has been described in what I have heard of it (and dismissed) prior to.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes
As described before.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? No

What I was afraid of, I saw as an adult rather than a child. Added perspective.

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Yes

During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? Uncertain

Concerning our Earthly lives other than Religion:

During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? Yes
Absolutely. Like 'Oh that's right.' Like remembering something that I had forgotten.

During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? Yes
Again, best way I can describe it was like going from a child experiencing being scared to awareness that there's nothing to fear, but knowing why I feared it then.

During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? Yes

Did you gain information about how to live our lives? No

During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? No

During your experience, did you gain information about love? Uncertain

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my life
My views on what 'matters' have changed. All the things that mattered prior (in seriousness or fear) are replaced with deeper meaning, purpose, love for others. Also a humor at the things I was so terrified of (being 'alone', possessions, status, especially status).

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes
Loving, matured, but also a little detached from the things they most value (possessions, status, need for approval). It doesn't bother me though.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes
Not really sure how to.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience
It was a momentary experience, but time here passed slower (seizure to hospital).

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes
A feeling of perspective and insight, but it feels familiar yet forgotten, like I was reminded.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? To experience things from a point of peace and the need to help others who suffer.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes
A little dismissive, interested, but because it was and is hard to describe. The inability for me to put into words would stop me from trying to explain. It was a personal experience. Like realizing your favorite song is yours to enjoy, not needing to put this onto others for them to experience.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes
In the most generic and cliche understanding. Was dismissive, uninterested.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real
Just that it happened. I know it but can't explain it.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real
It was something that was as vivid as a dream but as real as when waking up from that dream.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No

Did the questions asked and information that you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? Yes

Anything else to add? Nothing I can put into words.
