Experience Description

I was suffering with a chronic cluster headache. In the days leading to my experience, I the headache was especially painful. It was so bad that even my acute help medication was only of limited help for the pain. So, I additionally consumed cannabis for the pain. A suicide due to overdose of pharmaceuticals can't be excluded as the cause of the NDE, as in the days prior I had already unconsciously overdosed with sleeping pills.

The pain continued to be so bad that I had tachycardia and an epileptic seizure. Most probably I was still breathing during cardiac arrest I was more or less alone at home, and there was nobody watching me.

After I felt ventricular fibrillation, and the cardiac arrest happened, everything simply got dark around me. I left my body. I could see myself lying on my bed. I experienced again everything again, but from another perspective. It was as if somebody was showing me a picture of it.

Then, I saw a light and went towards it. I felt the presence of other people or souls and my deceased relatives, who were escorting me. I entered the light and then there was nothing anymore. Everything was white and flooded with light. I went in front of my creator and was judged. My whole life was shown to me; what I should hold onto in a new life even though I only saw the good sides.

I was shown the Universe. I was shown the past, present, and future. I was shown that my existence was not yet over because I had not yet fulfilled my assignment. Knowledge about myself and my disease was conveyed. The sense of my life was explained to me. I was put in front of a decision; to start a new life or to continue the old one with new knowledge. I decided for the life with the cluster headache.

Then I went back into my body, with knowledge and purpose born anew and destined to great deeds. My heart started beating and I woke up.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Uncertain Illness Heart attack. Suicide attempt. Drug or medication overdose. Clinical death (cessation of breathing or heart function) Since several days cluster headache, unbearable pain, which can lead under certain circumstances to unconsciousness, epileptic seizures.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Both pleasant AND distressing

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I heard my roomates. I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal. I had increased senses, and was more alert and observant. Everything made sense.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? All the time.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Faster than usual

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning It was as if I was existing independently of time. I was aware of past, present and future at the same time.

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I had a vision higher than 100%. I could see in the dark and saw more colors.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. My hearing was better than before as I could even hear the faintest things.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere, as if by ESP? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes To begin with, everything around myself was dark. Then I saw a small light in front of me. It lit up and was showing me the way. I went towards this light.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes I encountered deceased family members and they escorted me on my journey.

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes I saw a light at the end of a 'tunnel' and which did not originate from the terrestrial world.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm It was an infinite white space, having no beginning and no end. Everything was flooded with light.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I first felt anxious and unsure and then was suddenly filled with Happiness. Never before in my life I was as happy as that.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Incredible joy

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about the universe. I felt as if all secrets of the universe were opening up in front of me and that I could absorb all knowledge of the world.

Did scenes from your past come back to you? My past flashed before me, out of my control. I saw many things of my past life. I had mainly nice memories, and everything which constitutes myself as a person.

Did scenes from the future come to you? Scenes from the world's future. At first I saw my own future and then my future linked with the world. I saw every decision of my life with its effect on the whole universe. I was looking for a solution for world peace. I had all the time of the world, because time had become relative to me. I found the solution for the problem and took this knowledge along in my newly invigorated life.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a definite conscious decision to return to life. I understood who I am and what mission I have in this world. My mission was not yet fulfilled, so I decided to return.

What was your religion prior to your experience? Buddhist

Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Yes I'm meditating more often and have a stronger realization of my beliefs.

What is your religion now? Buddhist

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes I became more confident about my experiences and my values and share them with others.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin. I was met by a being who had a friendly and welcoming voice. It seemed to be familiar, but it didn't come from a person of earthly origin. Buddha appeared to me.

Did you see deceased or religious spirits? I actually saw them

During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? Yes I was shown the lives of all my incarnations.

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Yes I felt and realized, that my life is not independent from any other life, but that everything that exists is interconnected.

During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? Yes In my experience, I met my creator and went in front of him and my life was judged.

During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? Yes Awareness of the sense of life.

During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? Yes I was granted the whole knowledge of the universe. I recognized the sense and purpose of life, of my life.

During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? An afterlife definitely exists Yes I realized that life is a circuit and as such endless. So there is also a life after death.

Did you gain information about how to live our lives? Yes We should treat all people with love and respect, because that's the only way to create a positive world. We shouldn't kill, lie or steal.

During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? Yes I was shown everything going wrong in the world. But at the same time I got the information how I could change it.

During your experience, did you gain information about love? Yes I became aware that love is the strongest power in the world and that we should love all people. It was also about the love of my life. I realized that I will always find my soulmate and be together with her, come what may.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Slight changes in my life

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes Some relationships got stronger, others negative ones have been ended.

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes So much happened that it is difficult to describe everything.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes Could get along with other people even without words. I could speak and read other languages. My senses were better. Could see in the dark. Could slow down or speed up time.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes A stronger connection with my experience.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes My knowledge about NDE made my experience stronger.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. I'm checking the reality surrounding me, daily.
