Experience Description

I had been riding my motorcycle like I have done so for many years with a high level of competence. I felt very relaxed and confident as normal. Decisions when riding are part of everyday riding protocols and always I concentrate on the road and traffic conditions. On this night, however, I made a text book move and was overtaking three vehicles on an open road. The road was well lit and conditions where excellent. After I accelerated, the lead car for some unknown reason took a sharp right with no indication or warning. Since this happened while I was nearly past him, it resulted in me getting hit from the left-hand and causing me to come off under my bike.

What happened next was absolute calm and a deep understanding of what had happened. In milliseconds my instincts to stay alive kicked in. I pushed away from the accident mentally and physically, thus resulting in the bike being run over and me walking away with only bruising and a broken finger.

While in the midst of what seemed like an eternity of noise and pain, it was actually around 10 seconds. I felt an overwhelming calm and knowledge of what was going to happen. Initially I thought that was not too bad. Then I heard noises and felt impact and pain. My brain wanted it to end, which it did soon after. The strangest of feelings was knowing that I was not going to die and that I would get up. Blackness surrounded me, but a guidance of wellbeing was apparent. I felt some one was there to guide me through this experience.
