Experience Description 3235

I was at the beach, body surfing for about 30 minutes. I was exhausted because the surf was very rough and there was a very strong undertow. The waves were getting larger, but I couldn't get out of the water because of the undertow. I dove under a huge wave hoping that it would carry me to shore. Inside the wave was a tremendous wall of water that hurled me around like clothes in a washing machine. I had absolutely no control of my body as the water slammed me into the ocean floor, and I didn't know where the water surface was. The force of the water had knocked all of the air out of my lungs, so I decided that I was not going to make it. At this thought, a voice in my head said that all who have died have lived. I began to relax and realized that I didn't need to breathe anymore and the pain of my lungs sucking in water had stopped. Then I was feeling very warm, sleepy, and was floating in a grey space. I was overwhelmed with a wonderful sense of unconditional love and such a sense of wholeness, being connected to everything, and everything being equal to everything else. Then I was floating just below the waves as a point of consciousness. I felt super-aware and could see farther and think faster. Then I thought about how my father, who was on the shore, would react to my death. Suddenly, I was above the water surface looking at my father who was scanning the water to see what had happened to me. I knew that he would continue his life just fine without me and that he would get over it. Then I was below that surface again and wondered when my life would flash before me. I felt that there was an invisible someone with me. It was communicated to me a vision of the activities of my short life. It was as if it was all in a book with pages flipping by, except that the pictures were like little movies. It was a disappointing movie as I was only 17 at the time.

I felt that I had not accomplished what I had come for in this life. It was communicated to me that if I chose to leave my life at this point that I would have to come back and do this all over again. This invisible someone did not have any judgment to offer, and I felt that the judgment would come from me. In fact, I have concluded that this was only me, a higher version of myself. At some point, I asked what the purpose of life was and the answer I received was ‘to help other people.’ Then I began to hear wonderful music, not like any that I have heard in life. I could not identify the instruments or the melody. Next, I could hear some far-off school bells, the sound of which was luring me off to my right and into another dimension from which there would be no turning back. I did not hesitate at this barrier; I had no regrets about leaving anything behind from my life. Without warning, I was violently sucked down toward my body, still face down on the ocean floor. On the way down I was told, ‘It's not your time yet.’ Once I was back in my body, I still had no idea where the surface of the water was. Then I actually felt a pair of physical hands, one under each foot, push me to the surface, where I was able to stand up in chest deep water. How very angry I was! I felt so cheated. I did not want to leave that place to come back to this life. It took me many years to finally get over that anger and forgive God for sending me back to my life. How silly, huh? It was never my life in the first place. He was the one who gave this life.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning No.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Did your vision differ in any way from normal? Yes, colors were more vivid and brighter. I didn't notice being able to see through anything, but I was in the ocean.

Did your hearing differ in any way from normal? Uncertain; I experienced incredible music and the sound of school bells.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes Yes, grey space, where it was very warm and in which I wanted to go to sleep.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes Yes. This ‘being’ was communicating mentally with me and was unseen. I also think that it was only me.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I experienced great unconditional love and the feeling that we are constantly cared for in our lives. A feeling of being connected with all things and that nothing is more important than anything else.

Did scenes from your past come back to you? My past flashed before me, out of my control Yes. It was just like flipping through the pages of a cheap magazine, nothing outstanding, I was only 17.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Yes Yes. I was not allowed to go farther. It was just a sense of a barrier, but nothing visible. Certainly, I would not be here if I had chosen to cross it.

What was your religion prior to your experience? Liberal none

Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Yes Yes. I did not believe in God at that time. Currently, I am a Hindu monk. There is nothing more important in our lives than learning not to resist God.

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes Certainly, it is in the best interest of yourself and everyone you meet to be the kindest and most courteous that you can be. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated. We meet another version of ourselves every day.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes Yes. It was a few years before I told anyone about it, and the reaction was that they didn't know what to make of it. Some people are interested in it and it gives them a sense of not fearing death.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. The experience was definitely real. It took me a few years to figure out what exactly had happened to me. I remember that right after, I staggered to the shore I was unable to answer people asking me even if I was okay or not. I couldn't respond verbally for a few hours.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real. The experience was definitely real. I learned that we are all involved in love and are all connected in that love. We are all constantly cared for. God cannot forget a part of himself.
