Experience Description

I was 4 years old and staying at my babysitter's house. Her house was right across the street from a public swimming pool. There was a small, round kiddie pool beside the big pool. We usually went swimming there every day.

That day, I was playing in the kiddie pool. I was sitting on the kiddie pool floor with my eyes open underwater. I could see the other kids playing in the pool. I don't know why I couldn't stand up. I remember trying to push myself up but I was stuck. I started to panic.

The next thing I remember is being above the pool. I could see myself and all the kids that were still playing in the kiddie pool. I could see all the people in the big pool and those playing in the grass. I don't remember feeling anything physical. There was no pain at all. After looking at all that was below me, I looked up. I saw the brightest light I have ever seen but it didn't hurt to look at it. I saw what looked like clouds swirling around the light. It was almost like I was about to move towards the light. I felt something carrying me. I tried to look behind me, and as I did, a huge white wing lifted in front of the light.

I woke up next to the kiddie pool. I was on the ground with the lifeguard and my babysitter doing CPR on me. I don't remember sharing this experience with anyone until I became an adult.

I left the church because I felt that life, death, and all that is in-between is more that anyone can describe and I was subjected to the dismissal of my nde by those in my church. They said I just made it up. I have come to the conclusion that No man-made religion can even touch what exists outside of our physical realm.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? Just the feeling I had. While I was floating or being carried, it felt like the way its supposed to feel. It felt like home. I remember that feeling and I desire to feel that way again some day.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I was in my late 20s when I first shared with people from my church, they didn't believe me. They told me I was hallucinating and making it up.
