Experience Description

First, it was a lot of light. My whole family was standing on the stairs of a building that had Roman columns. I saw that I was outside their hemisphere. Next, I saw myself in my hospital bed, except there were flowers and a white picket fence surrounding me with a priest standing over me. Then, I was in front of our church and was placed on an open flatbed truck. My feet were glued to the truck and what I thought were angels, were holding me. I saw a gate in front of me and I kept on hollering to my mother, 'I don't want to go.' I believe, to this day after all that I awakened from the coma.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Illness. Life threatening event, but not clinical death. My appendix burst and I suffered from peritonitis, was in a coma for a week.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely distressing

The experience included: Out of body experience

Did you feel separated from your body? Uncertain Saw a church, a truck, roman columns, and a priest I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal Not sure

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? Not sure what you mean. I felt like I was well aware of what was happening to me, even at 11 years old.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Faster than usual

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin Angels on a flatbed truck surrounded me
