Experience Description:

I don't remember the actual accident, but I very clearly remember Jesus taking me by the hand and walking with me. We walked down by a pond. I don't remember any conversation taking place. The next thing I remember is seeing the top of the Life Flight helicopter and the rescue personnel milling around. I was in the helicopter and Jesus was holding my hand.

After some time I ran into one of the paramedics who responded with Life Flight. He told me that my recollection of the interior of the helicopter was accurate.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Accident Direct head injury I suffered a closed head injury when the pickup I was in flipped. Life threatening event, but not clinical death I had just had an accident and was unconscious and bleeding to death.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Wonderful

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Normal consciousness and alertness

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? When I was walking by the pond with Jesus.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Neither

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Neither

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I was able to look down and see my body and the rescue workers.

Did you see any beings in your experience? Saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes I saw what I was always thought to be Jesus. I don't remember any talking, but we held hands.

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? Neither

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? Neither

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I was happy. It was a feeling of extreme comfort and peace.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? No longer in conflict with nature

Did scenes from the future come to you? Neither I told my father that my mother was going to leave him. I guess time will tell. He didn't like that one so much and told me to go to sleep.

What was your religion prior to your experience? Liberal I was raised Baptist.

Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Uncertain I always went to church, but there was a part of me that didn't believe in God. I am a firm believer now. Firm.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I was able to recount what happened as soon as I came out of the coma. Their reactions were skeptical, until we went out to the crash site and we all saw the pond.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real I just thought, 'So there really is a God. Wow!'
