Experience description: 

      One week exactly after my son David passed away, my husband and I were asleep in bed when our travel alarm clock began ringing. This alarm had not been used for two years. It needs to be set and it was under other items. We both intuitively knew that it was David.

  I went into David's room to sort some of his things. He died from cancer (brain tumor) and during his chemotherapy he would smoke marijuana to give him some relief from the terrible vomiting and also to give him an appetite. I was all of a sudden overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana. There was no marijuana in his room as I had given to someone two days before. I felt David's presence at the time and I sat on his bed and talked to him. The odor lingered for approximately ten minutes. I went and had a shower and when I returned the smell was completely gone. This happened about four weeks after David's death.

  My sister was awakened twice by very powerful smells and these events both happened about four weeks after David's death as well. First she awoke in the middle of the night to the very powerful smell of flowers. The smell was so strong that it woke her out of a sound sleep. It also lingered for about ten minutes. Later when she was asleep again she was awoken once again. This time to the smell of pickles. David loved pickles more than anyone I've ever known. It was actually kind of a joke in our family. We both thought it was so creative that he would come through with these smells.

  At about eight weeks after David's death, I had an out of body experience. This is something that I have done many times in my life so I was not surprised by this at all. This time it was different because I went to where David was. I was greeted by my daughter Michelle (who is living) so I was a bit confused why she would be there. She took me to where David was. The greenery and the lushness of this place was stunning. David was standing on a brick surface with four other young men standing around him. They were looking at something that David had in his hands. It looked to be paper. He looked up and saw me, his expression was pure amazement. The most interesting thing about this experience was that I could feel his emotions as though they were my own. He came towards me and I to him.. he picked me up and swung me around saying... "I love you, I love you, I love you." I know that we then had a conversation but I am not consciously aware of the nature of that conversation. The next thing I knew, I was back in my body fully alert.

  I just had a second out of body experience two nights ago. I again went to see David. Both times I have been wide awake, fully conscious and aware that I am astral projecting. I went to a beautiful place. There was a mountainside with a large, deep lake or body of water beneath it. There were young people (mostly young men) in pairs all over the mountain side. They were having a tournament or playing a game where they would wrestle standing up.. trying to push the other one into the water below. This in no way was violent or mean spirited.. simply young people having fun. There was a lovely energy about it. I was scanning the mountain side trying to find David as I intuitively knew he was there. Just then our eyes met.. they locked together. It was amazing. Once again.. I could feel his excitement and pure amazement that I had come to him. I was on the other side of this body of water looking across at him and before I knew it, he was there beside me. David seemed quite concerned about why I was there and when I reassured him that I just had to see him and know that he was alright.. he was quite content with that. Once again.. we had a conversation. Again I am absolutely blanc on what we talked about. He then took me into a building that resembled a church in a way. There was a person speaking in the front and the building was filled with many young people. David introduced me to several of these young people who were very kind and warm towards me. Without any memory of saying that I should return home, or feeling that way, I was back in my body again.

  A couple of nights ago my husband had to work an overnight shift. This happens rarely and I was feeling a little anxious and worried about being alone. There was a lot of wind outside and many noises. Just after I lay down in bed to go to sleep, I felt the bed depress just as though someone laid down beside me. It was in no way an uncomfortable or frightening experience. It was very comforting and I felt that it was David beside me.

How many deceased or other beings were present in the experience? In two of my experiences, I went to where my son David is now. He died on October 29, 01. The first time I had the OBE and went to him, there were four other people with him that I didn't know. The next time I had an OBE and went to him, there were several young people. I didn't know any of them except my son.

Do you have any comments about the relationship you had with the deceased:  David and I were extremely close, very connected. We shared a wonderful love for each other.
 
Length of time between death of deceased and your experience:  the first one happened exactly one week to the day. It's quite been four months since David's death and I have had several ADC's

Was the date of the experience significant in any way?  The first one was one week exactly from his passing.

 Details of location of experience and your activity at the time of experience:  The first one was while sleeping in bed. The next one happened in David's bedroom while I was going through some of his things. The next two were out of body experiences that happened while in a conscious state.. awake and alert in the morning but while still laying in bed.

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?  Yes
      Describe:  One one occasion I heard my son telling me that he loves me. On another occasion I was aware that we were talking but I don't remember there being actual words.
      Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally, or outside of you, inside of you, or did you not hear a voice or sound but had a knowing of what was communicated?  The first time I thought that I heard him talking. The next time I think that it was an inner sense of knowing what was being communicated.

      If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar to the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?  no

      How clearly did you hear the deceased?  I seems very clear in my mind

      Is there any possibility that what you heard was from any other source in the surroundings at the time of your experience?  no

      Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?  no

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?  Yes

      Where and how were you touched?  The first time David picked me up and swung me around in his arms. We hugged each other after that. The next time.. he placed both of his hands on my shoulders and looked directly at me.

      Was the touch familiar?  The touch was very familiar. David was known for his incredible warm hugs.

      Was anything communicated by the touch?  I felt the love that he has for me very clearly. On the other occasion when I went to David... I felt his concern for seeing me there. After that.. he was fine.

      Is there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in your surroundings at the time of your experience?  no

Did you see the deceased?  Yes

      Describe the appearance of the deceased:  Both times when I saw my son, he was extremely thin but looked very healthy. David had cancer and went from 195 pounds down to 125 at the time of his death. He was 6'1" tall so he was extremely thin. David had a huge scar on his head from the three brain surgeries.. also a large bald spot there from the radiation. In these out of body experiences where I went to him.. he was very thin but he looked healthy and glowing.. .very happy. He did not have a scar on his head and he had all of his hair. He had a favorite tee shirt that we put on him after he died.. which he was wearing on both of these occasions when I saw him after his death.

      How clearly did the deceased appear?  solid.

      How much of the deceased did you see?  all of him

      Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?  he looked 21.. the same age he was four months ago when he passed away.

      How healthy did the deceased appear to be?  He appeared very healthy. He was thin but healthy.

      Is there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in your surroundings at the time of your experience?  no

Did you smell a distinct smell, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?  Yes

      Describe:  As earlier mentioned.. on other occasions I could smell marijuana. My sister (David's Aunt) could smell flowers and pickles.

      Was the smell, scent, fragrance or odor familiar?  yes

      Was anything communicated by the smell?  Just the feeling that David was there.

      Is there any possibility the smell, scent, fragrance or odor was from any other source present in your surroundings at the time of your experience?  no

How long did the experience last?  approximately ten minutes

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?  The beginning of the out of body experiences was more gradual .. the ending of them was very sudden. The beginning of the olfactory situations was more sudden in the beginning and the end.

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?  I could feel his incredible love.
      Describe:  I could feel his incredible love.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:  Experience was definitely real

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:  During each of these experiences I was extremely happy. I was very excited to communicate with my beautiful son who I miss so much. We talked about this a lot during his time with cancer and he promised me and my sister that he would come to us if he could. I am so excited to have these experiences.. I think they are an amazing gift. During the experiences... I felt ecstatic.
      
Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?  Yes
      Describe:  After the last experience (out of body) a couple of days ago.. I did not cry that day. It's only been a few months and I've been grieving my son so much. I've cried every day so many times and I did not cry that day at all. I felt more at peace because I could clearly see how happy and healthy my son is.

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?  Yes
      Describe:  It just reinforced my previous beliefs about life after death. It's very reassuring to know for a fact that when our bodies die.. that we do not.

Have you ever made a death compact?  Yes
      Describe:  David and I and my sister Dianna all made that contract with each other. Yes the deceased in my experiences was included.

Did you ever in your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other spiritual event?  Yes
      Describe:  I started having out of body experiences after a life saving surgery when I was nine years old. I didn't realize until later that it was  actually an out of body experience. Since then I have several of them.

To the best of your knowledge, did the deceased, during their life, ever have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other spiritual experience?  Yes
      Describe:  He has had an out of body experience.

Was the experience dream like in any way?  No
        
Did you experience a separation of consciousness from your body? Yes

Did you see a light?  No

  Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?  Yes

      Describe:  Several other young people that I do not know from this life.

  Did you experience a review of past events in your life?  Yes

      Describe:  I feel more at peace with my sons death. I know that he is very well.

  Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?  No

  Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?  Yes

      Describe:  On the two different events.. they were both in very different locations. The first one was at a very beautiful, lush, green and forested place that was a home. There was a brick driveway on which we stood. The second time was  at the mountain side where there was a lake. There was also a building that was church like.

  Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  Uncertain

  Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?  Yes

      Describe:  I have a sense of receiving important information but I am not able to retrieve that information now.

What emotions/feelings did you experience following your experience?  joy

What was the best and worst part of your experience?  the best part was just being with my son and seeing him so happy and out of pain. The worse part is leaving him but I do know that he's around me and I know I can see him again.

  Is there anything else you would like to add regarding your experience?  I'm hoping that my experiences might help someone else that needs some validation of their own.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?  Yes

      Describe:  I feel very blessed that even through a terrible tragedy like loosing my child, that I can be given something so beautiful.

  Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?  No

      Describe:  That I had To learn to open up to other people let other people in my life .   An understanding that you really do exist after death.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  Yes

      Describe:  another existence beyond ours another place

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?  Yes

      Describe:  I know not everyone experiences this type of thing.
