Weston G's NDE

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

            Late spring thaw caused Elkhorn River to overflow its banks. Went down the river in an row boat with a friend and his two older brothers. We wore no life vests. River current forced boat into a tree limb. Limb threw me to the rear of boat. The boat then tipped and took on water. I panicked and jumped away from sinking boat. Not knowing how to swim, I went under water and submerged three times. I stayed under for approximately 12 minutes. While under I, at first, saw many dazzling colors. I also remember seeing angels and darkness. The darkness was very scary and it seemed as though it lasted forever. Then I was in a dark tunnel, and I began to see a dim light at the end of the tunnel. As I traveled closer to the light it became brighter end brighter. Finally the light became the most brilliant white one could ever imagine. The white then began to take the form of Jesus. I don't remember if words were exchanged, but I did get the  urge to stay with him. I wanted to stay. But he sent me back , and the next thing I knew my head was bouncing off of a tree limb which was part of a downed yet stable tree in the water. A hand then came down under the water and took my submerged arm lifting me up from the river and placing me on top of the tree trunk. I was saved, but before this experience, I had never before been inside a church. I only knew Jesus through pictures...I was saved by my friend's big brother.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     It happened so long ago. I'd like to remember more of the experience.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Uncertain      It's hard to see under water. But, I learned that certain senses can be visual aids.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?            Uncertain     

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Uncertain

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Fear, terror, calmness, peace, wanting

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          Yes     The tunnel was square and very dark.

Did you see a light?           Yes     Dim to bright to fantastic white.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes    

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    Uncertain     

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Uncertain     

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?            Uncertain

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Uncertain      Too young to remember. Same answer to most questions I answered "uncertain"

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Uncertain     

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Approx 20 years. Experience shared with my wife. I don't think she believes me.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    No      

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    The reality of the experience is that it happened, and I'm glad it happened.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?            The spiritual meeting with Jesus. It was if a was facing the greatest being in the entire universe.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real            Nothing has changed.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           Uncertain     

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?            Uncertain      I believed in god before the experience, and I now believe in god. I now attend church on a regular basis , but I don't attend just because of my experience.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No
