Experience description: 

Dropped a defective 357 magnum handgun, safety didn't work.  I was shot thru the abdomen, liver, past the heart and thru the lung.  No exit wound.  Airlifted to nearest Medical center approx 40 minutes after event.  Was taken immediately into trauma surgery - was given paralyzing drug only, blood pressure was 0/0, no brain subduing meds given - new trauma technique.  Was awake throughout surgery.  Could tell Dr's what happened in detail - a study was initiated by the psych dept due to my experience.  During surgery, heart stopped, heart massage was performed 3 times - this is when I had my experience. 

It was totally dark & a soft light began to materialize, I suddenly felt the presence of intense comfort & love, then my grandmother & her mother (I had never met) both Native Americans.  They told me that it was not my time (I didn't hear them I just knew it)  They were there to give me strength.  Then I blacked out.  I was in intensive care for a month, then on the regular floor for a month.  From that moment on I have NEVER feared death, it is only a passing to join with all our love ones & the creator.

accidental gunshot wound to abdomen thru liver, past heart & thru lung, was not expected to live n- heart stopped in surgery 3 times

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           completely alert

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   no

yes because I no longer could feel the pain of the sugery

            Describe:      could see the light but no tunnel

it was as if i was in a diferent dimension

instant  we all go there & are united

I was told that it was not my time

to accept life & know that we go to a wonderful place after this one, appreciate what I have now

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       much more relaxed in judging people & situations.  Have a need to reasure dying people that it will be ok.  Knowledge that prayer works.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      knowing what awates me is wonderful, the post tramic stress afterwards was the worst
