EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

The doctor had performed the hysterectomy on me cutting me open and as I was taken to my room on the hospital bed I barely remember my two sisters being in the room when I was wheeled into my room.  They were talking with each other in whispered tones. All of a sudden my sister Joanne told my sister Betty that she thought I was turning blue.  They called for the nurse to come back into my room. 

I was out of my body observing my body laying in the hospital bed, and I could hear everything that my sisters were saying as well as the nurse who came into the room.  I tried to talk to my sisters to let them know I was alright but they didn't hear me.  Immediately after this my spirit went thru this darkened tunnel extremely fast and looking upwards I could see this white light at the end of the tunnel.  Your spirit goes through this tunnel like "Whoosh" and you are there standing in the brightest white light you have ever known.  The noonday sun cannot compare to it's brightness or stark whiteness.  You instantly feel this bright white light raining down upon your spirit and you feel an intense love all over your body like soft rain falling on your skin.  You know you are loved beyond all shadow of a doubt by this Bright Whiteness surrounding your spirit.  As I stood there feeling this great love overflowing me, I looked across a chasm and saw a neighbor whom I knew had previously passed away.  My neighbor belonged to the local Pentecostal Church in our area.  I also recognized the fact that she was deceased but here she stood.  I tried to speak to her, but she didn't open her mouth to speak like we speak as mortals here upon the earth.  She would think a thought and then it would come directly to my mind, and then my thoughts would go to her mind.  Like being illuminated with a light bulb going on inside your mind.  I dare to call this telepathic communication.  Her garments were made up of this same gossamer light that shone on me from above.  She told me that my mission here upon the earth was not completed, and I would have to go back she informed me.  I protested and begged to stay where she was, but to no avail.  She did say I would be allowed to stay the next time I came there.  Not that I could or would stay but she used the word "allowed."  Immediately after she had placed these things into my mind I was sent back. 

I would like to state I felt no pain whatsoever while standing before this Bright White Light or while conversing with my neighbor.  I also saw multitudes of other beings behind her for as far as the eyes could see. I was also not aware even that I had passed from life to death at any point in time.  It was only after my spirit was sent back to my body that I experienced the awful pain of being cut apart in my abdomen.  I bear this horrible scar even to this day.  The pain was more than I could bear, and my sister would hold a pillow to my abdomen to allow me to cough it hurt so bad.

After getting well enough to leave the hospital I had other weird experiences happening to me.  I didn't feel married anymore to this man who called me his wife, and I also didn't feel like my children belonged to me.  These two small boys who called me "Mama" were like total strangers to me.  The grass and trees appeared greener, and I wanted to walk without shoes on my feet to feel the earth.  Up until this Near Death Experience I had always been afraid to die, but afterwards I realized I was no longer afraid of death.  I realized now that death is not the end of the spirit, and that we progress once we leave this life.  I searched for many years as for the answers of Why I didn't feel married to my husband, after this Near Death Experience, and also as to why my two small sons didn't seem like they belonged to me.  I visited many churches talked to many pastors, went to several Doctors but none could give me even the remotest clue.  It took two Latter Day Saint Missionaries coming to my home to visit me with their "Book Of Mormon" before I got answers to these near death questions.  They pointed out to me the story in the King James Version of the Bible about the woman who had many husbands who passed away and the disciples asked the Lord to whom would she be a wife to once in heaven?  His reply was "to none of these."  The missionaries told me of a Latter Day Saint Belief that you had to be sealed here upon the earth to your  husband or wife and also be sealed to your children if you wanted them once you departed from earth from dying.  Without these sealings they were only gifts from God and not ours to keep for eternity.  These answers my soul or spirit knew instantly that they were truthful answers whereupon I agreed to become Baptized into the Mormon Church.  I am happily to this day a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     Yes, I felt it was a Holy or religious experience not easily shared with others.

Also felt like no one would believe me as to the out of body experience.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Yes     I was having surgury for a hysterectomy and the doctor had cut me open in a vertical line on my lower abdomen.  Five years later this particular Doctor was sued for leaving surgical scissors inside a patient after sewing her up.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    I had a high quality alertness the entire time I stood in this Brilliant Bright White Light.  I would even go so far as to say my alertness was magnified to a much higher degree.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            I had a high quality alertness the entire time I stood in this Brilliant Bright White Light.  I would even go so far as to say my alertness was magnified to a much higher degree.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Yes     A spectrum of colors like unto a rainbow appeared behind the Bright White Light.

I remember especially an Emerald Green color like no other green I had ever witnessed.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?            No      

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            an intense feeling of peacefulness and great extreme love like every hair on my head was precious to this Brilliant Bright White Light.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          Yes     The tunnel was dark but you were looking upwards toward this Bright White Light and you went thru incredibly fast like "Whoosh" and you were thru it.

Did you see a light?           Yes     The Bright White Light was at the end of the tunnel and you instantly came into it from the tunnel.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     I saw a neighbor who lived down the street from me.  I knew she had previously passed away.  She communicated telepathic thoughts to me.

She also instructed me to return to my body and earth as we know it.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No      

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No      

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?            Yes     I knew their was a Chasm that separated my spirit from all the multitude of beings that I witnessed there.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes     It was as if time didn't exist anymore.

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     Yes     I am no longer afraid of death or dying.  I know our spirit goes on to another progression or life if you will.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No      

Did you become aware of future events?       No           

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Yes     I can at times know the thoughts of others example, my sister will think the thought of where she wants to go eat, and I will be able to say to her before she ever opens her mouth, Oh, Betty, you want to go eat at "Taco Bell." This would surprise her as well as me, when she would say Sylvia, "How did you know that?"  I would just reply "I just did."

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     It took me 25 years later before I would share this Near Death Experience.

I felt like it was extremely Holy and didn't want to share this immediately with anyone.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    No      

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    I knew it had to be truly real because I had seen and spoken to people I knew who had previously passed on before this happened.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?    It made me Cherish Life, and learn to live it one day at the time.  I also saw the earth in a different light.  Birds and animals meant more to me, even the grass underneath my feet seemed alive and breathing.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real    I feel like God wanted me not to fear "death" as mortals know it, and he wanted me to experience his great love for me, and how special and unique I was unto him.  He also wanted me to realize that each of us has a specific mission to fulfill in life, and we are not getting out of earth life until we do as we were instructed before we were born into this world.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           Yes     Yes, I got up the courage to divorce an especially abusive alcoholic husband.

Previously he had broken the vertebrae in my neck, and I wore a neck brace for almost a year while my vertebrae healed.  I was afraid I couldn't make it in my life alone with two small children.  God showed me I could.

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?            Yes     yes as a result I was Baptized a member of the Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ known to world as Mormons.  Because of the Near Death Experience and the questions it left me perplexed with for so long.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         Yes     I heard two women singing on the TV one night who were performing with Yanni, and only for the briefest moments it sounded like the Angels in heaven singing.  Just a few brief seconds, and it was when their voices hit the highest notes only.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        I am happy that research is going on for this type of experience.  I feel like it made me more aware of the world and the happenings in the world today.

I am glad that I found this tonight as I know that God has a hand in all things concerning each of our lives, so I realize it must be his will for me to share this experience with you at this time in my life.
