Experience description:

From all that I have read about NDEs, my experience was very short.  I was embedded in light which was pure love.  I felt love that I had never known before and I knew that being loved did not depend on another human being.  I had a choice and I chose to return because I had a 2-yr-old son that I did NOT want my husband's (at the time) mother to raise.  He (my son) was more like my family and I didn't think that situation for him would be appropriate.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     Uncertain

I was undergoing surgery.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes

At that time, if it was verbalized, people thought you were nuts--including my husband at the time.  It was not until the Univ. of GA professor came out with "Life After Life" that people could accept.  Then, one had to be careful who they were talking to.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Yes

I had NO blood pressure the doctor could detect and had to have transfusion before going to surgery.  Many women at that time died because of ectopic pregnancies, bleeding to death internally. 1500cc's of blood was removed from my abdominal cavity. Remember we're in a country that transportation to the hospital is not like in the US today.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           I was sedated.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   Of course.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     No

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           No.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          Uncertain

Describe:      I may have but I don't know.

Did you see a light?           Yes

See above.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?           No

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   No

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Uncertain

The knowledge--stated above--relative to love.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       No

I was not out of body.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes

Described above relative to love.  I am also much more liberal in my spiritual beliefs. It seems to me I became 'spiritual' rather than 'religious'.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       I am much more considerate of other people, kinder, more open to other religions, more liberal.  (Haven't given this area much thought).

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes

Shared with my husband at the time--he thought I was nuts so I didn't talk about it for years.  Now, I talk about it freely with the people who, I believe, can accept it.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  Even though I had had surgery, I was on a Wonderful High!  Though, as I said, I could not share it at the time.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      The high was the best:  that I could not share it was the worst.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        I think I have said more than I've ever said before.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes

You asked good questions and that is the reason I said above this is the most I've ever said about it.

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    None that I know.
