While in the throes of a bad car accident, my deceased grandfather (that I was extremely close to) came to me.  At the time, I was 22 years old and working in Manhattan. I was just about to rent my first apartment away from my family.  As the impact was happening, all of the events surrounding my life at the time went through my head (mainly the rental of a new apartment). My beloved grandfather came to me with his arms and took me out of the wreckage.  I had no seat belt on and at the time, many of my friend who had see the car thought that I had died in the wreckage (It was that bad!). I survived by the grace of my grandfather and I'll never forget it.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     Yes     At the time I had the potential of being a high school dropout (although I had documented gifted abilities in school). I subsequently went on to finish a MA and have a successful business.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain      To certain people, but not for me.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Yes     I was in a very bad car accident.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           Very alert.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   Yes, when I saw my grandfather's hands.  He had been dead for a year.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     I was looking down upon the wreckage.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Peace and knowing that my grandfather was there to help me. He was a very intuitive person.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           No, just feeling that my grandfather was helping me.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    No           

Did you see a light?           No      

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     Newly deceased grandfather.

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes, I was viewing the accident that I was in from above.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Uncertain     

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes     My intuitive or unconscious senses were more prominent

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes     A time delay.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes            Grandfather who had died. He was in a different place.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             Yes     Yes, the boundary between the living and dead.
    
Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?      Yes     Yes, I was worried about getting the apartment, but I knew that I would after the experience.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes, I was more open to the universe

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       Hasn't affected my relationships.  I certainly have mentioned it, but I understand that no all people know what I'm talking about.  They have to experience things on their own.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Yes     I am more open to varying experiences.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Yes, the reactions have been mixed.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  I was happy to have the experience with my grandfather.  We were always close and it made me feel a special connection to him (which I knew was their anyway).

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      No negatives. The positive was connecting with my grandfather.
