EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
I
was eating breakfast with my then husband. We were talking and laughing, when a
piece of biscuit got caught in my throat. I couldn't breathe. There was no
pain, but I was scared not being to breathe. I remember gasping for air, and
then everything went grey. A light grey everywhere. It was slowly getting
darker, and darker, going from the grey to almost black. I heard a voice, or a
muffled sound I thought was a voice that said, "We are not ready. not yet". At
that point it started getting lighter and lighter, and woke up with my husband
sitting in front of me with tears in his eyes. His mother was behind me pounding
on my back. I gasped for a breath of air, and yelled at her to stop. I then
said to my mother in law and husband, "It doesn't hurt. Dying doesn't hurt".
They both backed away from me, and had looks in their eyes like they didn't
understand what I was saying. We never spoke about it again. I have never told
anyone about my experience, only because I don't think they would believe me. I
am not afraid.

clear, and going forward toward the black was crystal clear. Nothing else was in
my mind.

your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any
aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness,
etc.)?

It seems clear, but distant.

Experience was definitely real I was having problems in my marriage at the

go towards the grey, I felt like I had no more problems. So peaceful, and
quiet, like if I spoke I would be heard.
Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or
significant to you?
I
felt a void of what I was used to. No sound, no light, no confusion, none of
the clutter that is in everyone's life. So peaceful, quiet, a floating
sensation of the brain.
How
do you currently view the reality of your experience:
Experience was definitely real
Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your
experience?
Yes
I
divorce my husband, and remarried some 10 years later. I had to much clutter
and crap in my life, and that experience made me feel like I needed to get rid
of it.

experience?
No
Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life,
medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?
No
Is
there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?
I
really wanted to stress how my life seemed so full of crap. Stuff that wasn't
important and just clutter, my brain. Like it was full of old dust and cobwebs,
like the attic of a house.
Did
the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and
comprehensively describe your experience?
Yes
