Experience description: 

            I can’t remember the accident itself. I regained my consciousness when I was back in my apartment (that’s what I thought). The only difference was that there were cases and cupboards with drugs and medicines everywhere. After some time, a woman appeared. I can’t remember if we talked. At one point, a light door appeared in the wall and the woman asked me to come with her through it. We were to be back soon. I agreed because I trusted her. We went through the door. On the other side, she was no longer there. Everything looked like an underground factory (I cannot describe that place, but I guess a factory is what it felt like). There were a lot of people there. They were running naked in all directions. I just sat and observed them. The couldn’t see me or they just didn’t pay attention to my presence. Some time passed and I wanted to find exit. I wasted a lot of time and didn’t find anything. I was getting upset and angry and lost consciousness. When I regained it, I was still In that factory, but there were no people this time, just the women that took me there. She said I would stay there (I think the communication was telepathic, we didn’t talk in the usual way). I felt deceived. She had said we were going to come back. She asked me what I didn’t like abort the place. I didn’t answer, but I felt she understood my situation. All the people that I would leave on earth came to my mind instantly. I was very sad, for the first time in my life the feeling of sadness was so strong. I then felt sucked into this world and started to regain consciousness.

      Explanation:  I was in a coma for two weeks after the accident, probably I received some strong sedatives.

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  Yes

      What was it about the experience that makes it hard to communicate?  All the feelings are difficult to describe.

At the time of the experience, was there an associated life threatening event?  Yes

      Describe:  The accident resulted in hematoma of the brain. I was near death for a few days. 

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?  I was fully aware who I am, I paid attention to details.

Was the experience dream like in any way?  It was similar to a dream, but this dream was so realistic, that even after 6 years I remember it vividly.

Did you experience a separation of consciousness from your body?  Yes

Describe your appearance or form apart from your body:  I felt as if my consciousness followed me wherever I looked and then went wherever it wanted.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?  First curiosity, later – fear.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?  No 

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?  Yes

      Describe:  I came through a door made of light. It appeared in the middle of a wall in my apartment. 

Did you see a light?  Uncertain

      Describe:  A light door I described above.

Did you meet or see any other beings?  Yes

      Describe:  A woman who took care of me and other people. 

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?  Uncertain

      Describe:  I was reminded of all the people I would not see anymore if I stayed there. 

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?  Uncertain

      Describe:  During that experience, my consciousness „went out” of the hospital room and went to the corridor, a few meters away, separated by a few walls. When I woke up and could walk again, I checked and the corridor was really there. W

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?  Yes

      Describe:  "An underground factory" I described above. 

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  Yes

      Describe:  Just like I described above, it was a new place,  new space.  

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?  No 

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?  Yes

      Describe:  I went through this light door and came back through the same door. When I could not find the exit, I felt I was trapped/limited by this alien space. It was not a physical boundary. 

Did you become aware of future events?  No 

Were you involved in or aware of a decision to return to the body?  Uncertain

      Describe:  I’m not sure if it was my decision.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?  Uncertain 

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?  Yes

      Describe:  I started looking for explanations and came across Buddhist teachings about death. They were the only teachings that sound sensible and explain my experience. Later I started studying more Buddhism and decided this outlook fits me.  

Has the experience affected your relationships?  Daily life?  Religious practices etc.?  Career choices?  Thanks to this experience, I fund Buddhism which is now a fundament of my life. 

Have you shared this experience with others?  Yes

      Describe:  People’s reactions were not out of the way. 

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  I was totally shattered, I knew something important had happened but I couldn’t account for that.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?  Best part – the woman’s care of me. Worst part was when I couldn’t get out of there.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?  Yes
