Experience description: 

I can remember going into this I was scared. During the surgery I almost died and I can remember rising out of my body a few feet and all I was interested in seeing was my mother. I did notice a great big huge light coming from above me. I could tell if this was a surgery light or if it came from elsewhere. I floated through doorways and didn't pay any attention to the surgical goings on. The main thing that I was interested in was comforting my mother. I remember that she was with a couple of her friends. I wanted so very badly just to be able to reach out and hold her. I can remember being there with them, of course they had no idea. Suddenly I was snapped away something must have happened in the operating room and I was whisked back into my body. After my operation and throughout the rest of my childhood I became the adult. I had no childhood really and I was always there to help my mother. (I think this was even stronger since her family was in England)

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain, It was very emotional for me. I find anything emotional hard to explain.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Yes

I had a brain tumor and it was being surgically removed/attempted. It involved the brain and other things in that area. It is a Craniopherengima (I think that is close to the spelling). I have actually had 3 major brain ops. for this tumor.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           I was very alert and knew and understood all that was going on.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   The experience was very real and not dream like in any way.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Uncertain

I had no appearance at all. I saw a mass of light, but not real bright that was in my place.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           no

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          No

Did you see a light?           Uncertain, I saw a light I was just unsure were it came from.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No, I heard voices but do not remember any of it.

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?           No

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Uncertain, I knew that I had a purpose that was yet to be fulfilled. I also know that I have not yet gotten there either.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No, doors.  As far as I know that is where I was trying to get to to see my mother.

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Yes

After this, and it continued to grow, I found that I did have a few psychic abilities. But they were limited.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes, I was no longer afraid of death at all.  I knew that I had a purpose to serve and I couldn't quit before I reached that.  I had a closeness with my mother that I can not put in words, but that was important because she needed that and especially since  I had taken on an adult like role.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       I am more open to new experiences be that with other people or alone. That has made me more receptive to others. Religious wise at first I was very involved in but after about 10 years that seemed to diminish.  I think that career wise I have looked for things that will aid me in the future. Since I am still looking for my purpose.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Uncertain

I think it did when I was younger but I am not really sure about now. Yes it is all very fresh in my mind and I think about it often.

Have you shared this experience with others?         No, not totally

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  A love beyond most physical loves I would say that it was a love for life and all in it.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      The best part of this experience was being able to comfort.  The worst part I think was when I was suddenly snatched away from it.
