EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
I
was in a near fatal motor vehicle accident and was cut from my car and air
lifted to a local hospital. During the helicopter ride, I had a conversation
with my deceased mother-in-law and grandmother. I remember being so happy to
see them and smiling and feeling euphoric. I wanted to hug and kiss them but my
mother-in-law simply said "turn around, it isn't your time yet". I felt
perplexed and feel as though I made a strange face. She followed with "Amy
can't lose you so close to losing me. Go back and be with her". She had such a
kind loving look on her face and my grandmother was over her shoulder smiling
and shaking her head yes. Amy is my long-time partner. I remember thinking she
is right and they kind of disappeared. I then remember such excruciating pain
that I passed out until I got to the hospital ER. They woke me and I told them
to call Amy and finally remembered her number. The rest is about recovery but
my visit with them was so vivid.
Was
the kind of experience difficult to express in words?
No
At
the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?
Yes I had a near-fatal motor vehicle accident with multiple brain bleeds,
broken neck (C1) stable fracture, multiple broken bones, and severe hematoma
At
what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness
and alertness?
I think when she told me to turn around - I felt very alert and clearly
understood her message.
How
did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience
compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?
More consciousness and alertness than normal
If
your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was
different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please
explain:
I think when she told me to turn around - I felt very alert and clearly
understood her message.
Did
your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect,
such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of
solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?
Yes Everything was bright and crisp. I heard the helicopter but it was very
distant while they were there and much louder after they left. They both seemed
very transparent and my mother-in-law, Betsy, seemed to be sitting down but I
didn't see a chair. My sense of touch also seemed super sharp - I felt their
smiles - it warmed me.
Did
your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any
aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness,
etc.)?
Yes I heard the helicopter but it was very distant while they
were there and much louder after they left. I heard or felt everything they
communicated.
Did
you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?
Uncertain
What emotions did you feel during the experience?
I felt elated, joyful. I was so happy to see them - it made me feel
warm to be near them. I was feeling only good things - no pain or fear. It
erased all anxiety and left me feeling at peace.
Did
you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?
No
Did
you see a light?
Uncertain Well not so much a light as I felt the space was exceptionally
light and bright. It was an odd light, bluish with a pulsing feel.
Did
you meet or see any other beings?
Yes as described above.
Did
you experience a review of past events in your life?
No
Did
you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience
that could be verified later?
No
Did
you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or
dimensions?
No
Did
you have any sense of altered space or time?
No
Did
you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?
No
Did
you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?
No

you become aware of future events?
No
Did
you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience
you did not have prior to the experience?
No
Have you shared this experience with others?
Yes I shared this story with Amy, family, and friends in the ER - so within
hours. They were so scared and worried about me that I think something that
brought me peace made them very happy. I did later learn that it scared them to
think I was so close to death because Amy and many of the others believe in
NDE. Everyone close to me was changed by my accident and NDE so it is hard to
tell what changed them most.
Did
you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?
Yes Only what I have learned by reading
How
did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it
happened:
Experience was definitely real I feel like it is the single most important
reason why I am here. It feels as real as my fingers feel on the keyboard.
There is no doubt in my mid that it happened or that I believe it happened.
Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or
significant to you?
I
think the fact that I was so close to crossing over - it took some powerful
women in my life to keep me here. I know many people who have died but these
are 2 of the most powerful and clearly the degree needed.
How
do you currently view the reality of your experience:
Experience was definitely real It's the same - nothing has changed.
Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your
experience?
Yes
Everyone in my life is more precious.
Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your
experience?

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life,
medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?

Did
the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and
comprehensively describe your experience?
