EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
When my son was born, I lost a lot of blood, and I felt my heart stop. It's
strange to describe but the closest thing I could think of to it is the
sensation of not being able to breathe. I felt my heart stop and I lost
consciousness, then I felt myself rise up, and I was looking at myself. I could
hear the doctors and nurses calling me and I could see my husband and my new
baby. My hubby was looking so helpless. The room looked slightly different, like
it was hazy. I keep yelling "I am here, I am right here" but no one could hear
me, finally they gave me ephedrine to get my heart going again and I felt myself
plunge back into my body and take a breath, like being underwater and coming up
for air.
Was
the kind of experience difficult to express in words?
Yes
At
the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?
Yes
At
what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness
and alertness?
right after I rose up out of my body, I could see and hear everything, and I
felt warm
How
did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience
compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?
More consciousness and alertness than normal
If
your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was
different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please
explain:
right after I rose up out of my body, I could see and hear everything, and I
felt warm
Did
your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect,
such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of
solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?
Yes everything looked like I was seeing it though a haze, but it made things
more clear instead of less clear, the scrubs on the doctors were vibrant
Did
your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any
aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness,
etc.)?
Yes I heard everything in the room clearly and could recognize
where it was coming from. Not just voices but thoughts and feelings as well.
Did

Yes
What emotions did you feel during the experience?

Did
you have any sense of altered space or time?
Yes it seemed like there was no time. I have no idea how long I was out of
my body, it felt like no time at all and such a long time too.
Did
you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?
Yes I knew that death is not the end. I used to be afraid of dying, but
after the dying part is over there is nothing to fear, we go on, we are still
us, and we aren't in pain anymore
Did
you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?
No
Did
you become aware of future events?
No
Did
you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience

Uncertain I definitely feel more sensitive to the atmosphere in a room. I
can almost feel if there is someone in the room that has passed, sometimes I
will get really sad and not have a reason or I will be elated for no reason and
then it will pass as quickly as it came
Have you shared this experience with others?
Yes a few weeks. The people I have shared it with just say that is weird.
