Experience description:

I remember hearing voices and seeing a crowd of people huddled around my passed out body.  I might have been thinking something along the lines of "oh crap" during the experience, but it's been awhile and my memory is fuzzy.  I do remember after the even attempting to remember details, but having trouble focusing onto anything real specific (during the OBE, I wasn't thinking about looking for details; not even sure if I was thinking at all, rather than merely experiencing).  I then finally came-to (i.e., woke up from what I guess was an unconscious state - don't remember if there was still a crowd of people around me), and a friend helped me to the nurses office.  I was pretty shaken up, partially from oxygen deprivation, partially from the OBE, partially from the humiliation of getting knocked out by a soccer ball to the gut.  It was an interesting experience.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? No

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Uncertain

The wind was knocked out of me, I couldn't breath, I collapsed unconscious (ended up splitting my lip).  Doubt it was "life-threatening," but I was pretty shaken (partially from lack of oxygen).

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           hovering over a crowd of people, hearing voices.  sight, voice perception.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   a little bit - I mean, hell, I was floating above a crowd of people looking down at myself.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes, was "hovering" above my body.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            there might have been a generalized "oh crap" feeling (as in, I just got hit in the gut by a soccer ball, and now I'm having some weird-ass OBE, which can't be a good sign, esp. considering the somewhat humiliating nature of the incident [death by random soccer-ball to the gut?]).

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           not unusual - people milling about the downed guy in the field.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    No

Did you see a light?           No

stuff was lit as should be expected (except for lack of shadow from my "hovering" self).

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later? Uncertain

People milling around me, voices.  Pretty sure there were a bunch of people milling around me.

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          No response

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   No

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       No

nope.  Just happened.  "woke up"  "came-to"

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   No

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       Well, I believe in OBE's.  Thought about it spiritually, of course, but didn't seem to be anything special enough to confirm an after-life, soul, much less "God" or the need to practice some organized religion.  Made sure to remember it as a thing of note.  Perhaps has been useful in helping me to understand the wide-ranging abilities and possible functions of our bodies that normally go unnoticed (maybe making me a little-more open minded in some certain ways).

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         No

Have you shared this experience with others?         No

this is the first time I've shared it.  Yay web-randomness.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  was a bit shaky.  I certainly thought about my experience for some time, and was wondered/awed/interested/curious by it.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      best part: having the experience, I guess (experience of an OBE, not the experience itself.  Yay semantics).

worst part: getting knocked out by a soccer ball to the gut, and having a split lip, and feeling kind of humiliated, and getting to wonder if it would be possible for me to get killed by a major hit to the gut.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        Made me wonder about sensory brain connections -- possibility for non eye-ball produced exterior sensations to trigger (realistic) visual experiences in a state of "unconscious."  also, subjective nature of the self - i.e., others who claim to have OBE's, near-death experiences: how much is it influenced by prior influences (i.e., one sees/experiences what one 'subconsciously' wishes/expects to experience)

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    Seemed to do a pretty good job of allowing me to share my experience.  Thanks.

note: some of the questions (which I left unanswered - namely the click a choice ones) could have used a "not applicable" choice
