EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

At age 55 I had a stress test. My heart was chemically stimulated.  After the test, I had chest pain and was afraid of trying to walk for fear of falling.  I was taken by wheelchair to the ER and helped onto a gurney, where I passed out.  While unconscious, lying flat on my back,  I saw a bright light, or conduit, in the upper right hand corner of the room (the east wall.)  The brightly lit conduit or tunnel reminded me of the light that you see above an operating table because of its round shape and its intensity, but this light didn‘t hurt my eyes. 

Outside of the conduit stood two angels – my younger sister and a nephew, who had both died in separate car crashes.  I didn’t visually recognize them, seeing little more than two spheres of white light, but I felt sure of who they were, and that I was not just guessing. The event seemed to take just an instant, leaving me relaxed and reassured. I was disappointed when I woke up.

I was surprised and comforted by the thought that two angels, or spirit-beings, were watching over me.  But I was disappointed that I woke up before getting the chance go to the Light.

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   Yes.  My heart was chemically over-stimulated for a stress test.

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  No    

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    Just before waking up.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal.   My mental processing seemed faster and clearer.

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   The wall and the ceiling seemed to have devolved around the angels and a conduit of light.

Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body?   No  

What emotions did you feel during the experience?   Calm, curious, and relaxed.  My autism makes it virtually imposable for me to relax.  

Did you pass into or through a tunnel?   No  

Did you see an unearthly light?   Yes.   It reminded me of looking into the light that you see above an operating table because of its round shape and its intensity, except it didn‘t hurt my eyes.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   I encountered definite beings, clearly of mystical or unearthly origin.

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)?   No  

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings?   Yes   Outside of the conduit stood two angels, my younger sister and a nephew who had both died in separate car crashes.

Did you become aware of past events in your life during your experience?   No  

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world?   No

Did time seem to speed up or slow down?   No

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything?   No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?   No

Did scenes from the future come to you?  No

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge or purpose?   No  

What occurred during your experience included:   The content was entirely consistent with the beliefs I had at the time of my experience.   My expectation was that the angels that help you are most often family members, but it never occurred to me that more than one at a time would be watching over me. 

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience as accurately as other life events that occurred around the time of the experience.   My experience is special to me so I remember it more clearly.  

My experience directly resulted in:   No changes in my life.

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   No  

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?   Yes. I was surprised and comforted by the thought that two angels, or spirit-beings, were watching over me.

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes.  Maybe a week later.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   Yes.   A few friends had shared their experiences with me and I had done a little reading.  I was surprised to find that two angels were watching over me.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was definitely real

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   No  

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   No  

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience?   Yes.   Twenty years ago, when I was in sincere payer, I had the sensation of being in a conduit, so seeing the bright light of the NDE didn’t feel unusual.  I was surprised at the direction of the conduit. It was headed east instead of up.
