EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
During childbirth I was given an epidural, immediately afterwards I felt more
comfortable but not pain free, I laid back on the bed then within seconds
started to feel like I was going to be sick, I asked my husband for a receiver
by which time every movement of people around me seemed to slow right down which
confused me at the time as I didn't feel like I was in the same time zone, it
felt like everyone else was in slow motion, at the same time even though I could
sense people's panic everything started to become very quiet. I sensed that I
was going to die but wasn't concerned, I felt a sense of completeness and that
my unborn daughter was going to be fine with her dad without me and that I'd
achieved what I was meant to do.
As I
shut my eyes I was immediately above my own body and could see the whole of the
labor room below me as if I was watching a scene of a play unfold. At that point
I was aware that there was no sense of pain or pleasure or even movement within
my body, it was an unnaturally calm, still and complete weightlessness that I
cannot liken to anything I've ever felt before or since. The feeling seemed to
be a split second in time then the feeling of my own steady breathing came back
and I opened my eyes to find myself back within my body. My mum was at the end
of my bed crying asking me if I'd remembered what had happened. I answered that
yes I knew I was close to death but I knew everything was going to be ok either
way. She was so worried that she'd nearly lost me. After the experience I
realized that instead of the split second that I thought had passed, it had
actually been 45 minutes and felt extremely baffled as to what had just
happened.
At

Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at

that I think you are a spirit and your physical body is just a host. However,
with the loss of all concerns and worries at the time of the experience I feel
that was not consistent with what I believe as I thought that there would be
more of a sense of tying up loose ends instead of just being able to easily
leave everything behind.
