EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

I attempted suicide when I was 24 years old. on the way to the hospital I died in the back of the ambulance. I was kept going by artificial respiration. the doctor told me I was dead for about 3 minutes. that experience I kept to myself for almost 30 years. while dead I spoke to someone who told me to go back, that it was not my time. I was told to be patient because there was a need for me. I was also told not to try suicide again because I would not be successful. so I waited from age 24 to age 52 and nothing.

then I have a heart attack of all things! I'm not overweight and I was very active but still I had a heart attack. within 2 weeks of my being diagnosed I was undergoing open heart surgery. leading up to the surgery I just wanted to die because the pain I endure on a daily basis from my injuries drives me crazy. Death seemed like a welcome relief from what I was going through, but that experience as a young man still haunted me. I wanted to know if God would consider it suicide if a person refused life saving surgery and let themselves die instead. At first the doctors thought I was crazy and asked a shrink to come see me. the shrink soon realized I wasn't crazy, just tired of life. He asked the preacher to come see me and I asked the preacher the same question. He couldn't answer me either. So I decided the only way to get the answer was to go through the operation and ask my question on the other side.

Question from NDERF reader:

“I was very interested in a NDE on your archives page(John R NDE 5231) No. 2735. He mentions wondering if refusing life saving surgery is considered the same as suicide in the next life as he was told not to attempt suicide during a NDE and he says he decides to ask this question during life saving surgery.  What was the answer he received?

The answer is kind of murky. I never really asked if refusing live saving surgery was good or bad while on the other side, but you must understand that the other side is very different from this thing we call reality and besides, we had all types of far more important things to talk about. When your soul or what ever you want to call it is on the other side, things like suicide and money worries etc. are so trivial as to be not thought about. They are concerns of this world. I can also say there is no short cut from this side to the other. We are each here for a specific reason and to learn specific things. If that  learning process called life is interrupted by something like murder, which is the random act of another, then we will probably have to come back again to complete that lesson, unless the murder was planned into the life for the learning experience. All I know is that I was told not to attempt it, because I would not be successful, but that was when I was 24 years old (about 1979). For the rest of my personal life I'm going to treat suicide as a no go. What I do know is that you have to pay for your decisions on this side when you get to the other side and suicide is not a load I would want to carry over to the other side. In essence, it's your call but the action carries consequences.
