EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

IT WAS IN THE SUMMER. I HAD A SUMMER JOB IN ADDITION TO PLAYING IN A ROCK BAND. I WAS A TOP STUDENT, BUT ALSO HAD A BAD NERVOUS PROBLEM . MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED VALIUM. ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY I WAS HIGHLY AGITATED AND BEGAN POPPING VALIUMS ALL DAY. I WENT TO BAND PRACTICE WHERE I CONSUMED SLOE GIN WITH THE BASS PLAYER. AFTER PRACTICE I WENT HOME, UNDRESSED AND WENT TO BED.  IT SEEMED THAT A VERY SHORT WHILE AFTER I CLOSED MY EYES THAT I FELT A PAIN IN MY CHEST AS IF MY HEART STOPPED.

I FOUND MYSELF IN THE RIGHT CORNER NEAR THE CEILING OF MY ROOM LOOKING DOWN AT MY BODY IN THE BED. THE EXPERIENCE DIDN'T SCARE ME, BUT FELT LIKE THIS WAS AS NORMAL AS GETTING UP IN THE MORNING. I THEN FOUND MYSELF IN WHAT I GUESS YOU WOULD DESCRIBE AS A TUNNEL. I SAY 'DESCRIBE' BECAUSE IT HAD NO WALLS, FLOOR, OR CEILING. AROUND ME WAS DARKNESS. I FELT LIKE I WAS ON AN ESCALATOR GOING FORWARD AT A SOMEWHAT FASTER PACE. AHEAD OF ME WAS A LIGHT THAT GREW LARGER AS I WENT FORWARD. THE ENTIRE TIME THIS WAS HAPPENING, I HEARD A SOUND I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE AS A HUM (LATER IN LIFE WHEN I STUDIED BUDDHISM, I FOUND THE "OM" CHANT REMARKABLY CLOSE). I EVENTUALLY CAME TO AN ENTRANCE TO A UNIVERSE (AN OPENING) WHERE I REALIZED THE BRILLIANCE OF THE LIGHT (LIGHT DOESN'T DESCRIBE IT) I WAS APPROACHING WAS INDEED MADE OF INNUMERABLE LIGHTS STRETCHING AS FAR AS I COULD SEE. AT THAT POINT I WAS TOLD (NO SOUND) THAT "IT WAS NOT MY TIME".

AT THAT POINT I WAS CAST BACKWARDS AT A HIGH SPEED, FELT MY CHEST MOVE AND IMMEDIATELY GOT UP. I THEN WALKED TO MY PARENTS ROOM AND TOLD THEM I HAD SEEN GOD. NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT DID NOT GO WELL. FOR DAYS AFTER I FELT THAT WAS I HAD EXPERIENCED WAS REAL BEYOND BELIEF. NOT BEING ABLE TO TALK ABOUT IT, I RETREATED INTO MYSELF, LOST MY SUMMER JOB, AND BEGAN MY JOURNEY TO EXPLAIN IT.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     EXPERIENCE WAS OTHER-WORLDLY, WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE THE EVENTS THAT OCCURRED

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Uncertain            THE EVENT OCCURRED AT MY PARENTS HOME. I FELT THAT MY HEART HAD STOPPED, AND RE-STARTED WHEN GOD SENT ME BACK. PHYSICIAN LIVED TWO STREETS DOWN AND CAME TO THE HOUSE. I JUST REMEMBER HIM TALKING TO ME.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    I WOULD SAY WHEN I CAME TO THE ENTRANCE OF HEAVEN(?)

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            I WOULD SAY WHEN I CAME TO THE ENTRANCE OF HEAVEN(?)

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  No      

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
            Uncertain      THE 'HUM' I DESCRIBED ABOVE WAS CONSTANT. IT SOUNDED LIKE A HIVE OF BEES WORKING DILIGENTLY.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          Yes     AS I DESCRIBED ABOVE IT SEEMED LIKE A TUNNEL, BUT WITHOUT THE WALLS, ETC.

Did you see a light?           Yes     AS I DESCRIBED ABOVE, IT FIRST APPEARED AS A SMALL LIGHT, THEN GREW, AND THEN IN MY VISION IT APPEARED TO BE TRILLIONS + OF SMALLER LIGHTS. I FELT THAT EVERY SMALL LIGHT WAS AN INDIVIDUAL. EVERY LIGHT WAS PURE ENERGY.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Uncertain      THE ONLY THING WAS THAT I HEARD A VOICE TELLING ME IT WASN'T MY TIME. I DID NOT SEE ANY OTHER BEINGS.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No      

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No      

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?            Yes     AN APT DESCRIPTION WOULD BE NIRVANA

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Uncertain      TIME SEEMED IMMEASURABLE

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     Yes            THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER SIDE AND A GOD

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Yes     THE ENTRANCE TO HEAVEN (?) I KNEW IF I WENT IN MY EARTHLY EXISTENCE WOULD CEASE.

Did you become aware of future events?       No           

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     No      

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     THE IMMEDIATE REACTION FROM MY PARENTS WAS THAT I HAD GONE OVER THE EDGE. I AM VERY RELUCTANT TO SHARE IT.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    No      

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    I KNEW IT WAS REAL IN SPITE OF OTHER PEOPLE'S ATTITUDE. SHORTLY AFTER, I QUESTIONED MYSELF, AND ATTEMPTED TO RUN AWAY FROM THE EXPERIENCE. I HOWEVER HAVE ALWAYS KNEW IT WAS REAL, AND TO THIS DAY REGARD IT AS THE MOST PROFOUND EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?    TO BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE HEAVEN (?) WAS LIFE-CHANGING.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real            AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I STILL KNOW THE EXPERIENCE WAS REAL. IN MY HIPPIE DAYS I EXPERIMENTED WITH MANY DRUGS AND NEVER CLOSELY APPROACHED WHAT I EXPERIENCED THAT DAY.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           Yes     I VALUE LIFE MUCH MORE. EVERY PERSON HAS A SOUL AND THUS SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND LOVE. LIFE IS PRECIOUS.

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?            Yes     THE EXPERIENCE ENCOURAGED ME TO STUDY OTHER RELIGIONS (SPECIFICALLY BUDDHISM) LOOKING FOR A VALIDATION OF THE EXPERIENCE. I HAVE HOWEVER ALWAYS BEEN MODERATE IN MY VIEWS.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No      

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        I AM GLAD THAT PEOPLE ARE MORE OPEN TO OTHERS WHO HAVE THE EXPERIENCE. HAVING NO-ONE TO TALK TO MAKES YOU QUESTION YOUR SANITY.

Did the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?         Yes     I COULD NEVER FORGET OR DISCREDIT THE EXPERIENCE. THE QUESTIONNAIRE WAS AS CAPABLE AS IT COULD BE USING LANGUAGE AS THE DESCRIPTIVE TOOL.
