Experience Description

I had passed out at home. I was told that I had been 'coded', and that my bodily functions were shutting down. While I was gone from my body, I was walking toward a brilliant light. It was brighter than anything that I had ever seen. As I kept going toward it, it kept going further and further away. I was so calm and peaceful. I knew that I wanted to be where the light was.

I awoke five days later; I was both peaceful and calm. I was not nervous being in the hospital. I was told that I had been 'out' for five days.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Illness. CPR given. Clinical death (cessation of breathing or heart function or brain function) Bodily functions were shutting down due to pneumonia.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

The experience included: Out of body experience

Did you feel separated from your body? No I lost awareness of my body

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal t was as if all my senses were sensitized, and that I became more alert than before the experience.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? While I was going towards the light

Were your thoughts speeded up? Faster than usual

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? No

Were your senses more vivid than usual? More vivid than usual

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I had bits and pieces of a vision before the experience, but now everything has become more acutely aware.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I thought I was hearing my name before the experience, but now I can hear it more clearly since then.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

The experience included: Tunnel

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain It was like a long pathway drawing me toward the light.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I sensed their presence

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes My uncle Kenneth

The experience included: Unearthly light

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes It was the brightest light that I have ever seen. It seemed like the sun, but I was not getting burned by it.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? Some unfamiliar and strange place The path I was on had beautiful trees on each side, beautiful red bricks and water flowing on either side.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? The emotions were peacefulness and calmness.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Happiness

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? No

Did scenes from your past come back to you? I remembered many past events

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will I felt that I was not permitted, at this time, to walk any further toward the light, and that I had some unfinished business on the earth plane to do first.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes I moved away from the person who did not believe the same as me, and I found someone who was willing to accept me the way I am.

Did you see deceased or religious spirits? I sensed their presence

During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? Yes The awareness was one of peace, and being calm and not edgy or nervous.

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Yes I felt as one with trees and other things around me.
