Experience Description

When I blacked out in hospital I then heard a voice saying he has gone. I then felt no pain. After some seconds, I felt weightless and was floating. I then heard a voice calling me saying, ‘Peter.’ Then she called me again a bit louder. I asked her ‘Is this it? Is this what happens next? She then said to me, ‘You can come with me now Peter. Everything is going to be fine.’ I looked for where the voice was coming from. Then there was a great white light in front of me. She then called me again saying, ‘Peter everything is going to be fine, you can come with me now.’ I then said, ‘No I have to go back.’ She said, ‘Why do you have to go back?’ I said, ‘My wife was on her own.’ She said, ‘Then it's fine, she will be okay. Don't worry.’ I said, ‘No, I have to go back. She is on her own and she needs me.’ Then the light faded. I was coming around and came back to consciousness.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes I had a heavy nose bleed, went to the hospital and passed out

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I could just see myself hovering over my body.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? Completely out cold.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning It was as though I was in a tunnel of light.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No

The experience included: Presence of deceased persons

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No Just the voice that was calling me. I've heard it before. Somebody from my past.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes Just everything around me was a bright light.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? No

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Complete calmness.

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? No

Did scenes from your past come back to you? My past flashed before me, out of my control

Did scenes from the future come to you? No

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will I said I wanted to go back. My wife was on her own and needed me.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes I now believe there is life after death.
