When I was a year and a half old, my sitter gave me pieces of gum to quiet my crying. A piece of gum got stuck in my throat and choked me. My parents came in and laid me across their bed with a laundry basket at the side of the bed for me to throw up into. I was laying across the bed, around the middle section, with my head facing toward the wall with the bedroom door. My crib was at the foot of the bed next to my father’s chest of drawers. My mother's drawers were at the head of the bed on the right side running parallel with the bed. Beside her chest of drawers was the bedroom window. My mother was sitting to the right of me, stroking my throat. My father was standing next to the door blocking the way of the sitter. The laundry basket was a turquoise color and the bed covering was white with a flower design. I was watching this from above the bedroom window. I always thought this was a dream until I told my mother about it when I was in my twenties. She told me that this is what happened to me when I was a year and a half. We had moved out of that house when I was around two years old. I had never recognized the house in my memory. That is why I thought it was a dream.
