Experience Description

I saw the hospital room that I was in (emergency room department). I did not want to come back, but eventually understood that I had to. Not sure how I knew that, but later, after I recuperated, I remember knowing that I would never be afraid of dying. I also, at eighteen, was very sure I had to do something for other people with my life. I tried to convince my parents that I HAD to join the Peace Corps; something I would have never wanted to do before this happened.

It totally changed my life. My mother died two years ago. I was with her when the doctor told her she had a month to live, and was able to tell her that I was SURE she would be okay.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Wonderful

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal All of it; but I remember the last part all these years later!!

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning I was there a long time, to me, but it was not actually long at all.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes I saw something like a tunnel, but was very aware of the peaceful light at the end.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes I did, but cannot describe them. I 'knew' they were there, and communicated without words.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes It was a light; but so much more. Almost like a living light.

During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? Yes I know that death is just not something to fear. Also, that we are supposed to be helping each other, as a society.

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes The feeling - this was before people spoke about this like they do now!

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I told my family as soon as possible. They had not heard of this, and just shrugged it off to drugs. However, I don't think I would have been on the drugs in the emergency room, at least not right away.
