First I said, 'Salad.' T
hen I went blind, and then deaf.

My consciousness went to a comforting gray, grave-like box. I was not afraid.

When I came to, I
had a strong message, 'You have much work to do.' It was the first thing I said. I woke up 2 days later.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Allergic Reaction. Life threatening event, but not clinical death. Anoxia from reaction to chemotherapy for late stage metastatic ovarian cancer.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Both pleasant AND distressing

Did you feel separated from your body? No I lost awareness of my body

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Less consciousness and alertness than normal. I was in dream-like state.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? When going to a gray box.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Calm

Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Yes I am not as competitive, but am more compassionate instead.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes We are put here to learn to love one another.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I heard a voice I could not identify. I heard a strong, forceful message saying, 'You have much work to do'

During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? No

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? No

Did you believe in the existence of God prior to your experience? God definitely exists

During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? Yes I had chosen a secular life away from God.

During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? Yes return to Jesus and share his love.

During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? Yes Jesus is the son of God.

Do you believe in an afterlife after your experience? An afterlife definitely exists. Yes I was made to rest in this gray box until I woke up. I had clear message that I have much spiritual and earthly work to do before being ready to meet God.

During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? Uncertain I needed to reconcile my turning away from Jesus, and tell my son so. Also, to do more charitable work.

During your experience, did you gain information about love? Yes I felt strongly admonished

Were you compassionate after your experience? Greatly compassionate toward others

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my life. I have more compassion towards everyone. I pray all of the time, for others and those who are hateful towards others and myself.

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes I lost many friends who are not Christian, and have closer relationships with my Christian and spiritually aware friends.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? No

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience. Afterwards, I was in a semi-coma state for three days, during which I had no memory except being in a CT machine.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? Feeling sorrow at being separate from God/Jesus.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes right away

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Uncertain saw something on Oprah.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. It was certain and real.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real. Separation from God/Jesus is a sorrowful state.
