Experience Description

In March 1993 I was living in Del Rio, Texas with my husband (we have since divorced). We decided to see a fertility doctor in San Antonio, Texas. We had been married 3 years and we wanted children. I had a history of reproductive problems so we decided to see a fertility specialist. The doctor we saw said the best thing for me to do was to let him do a laparoscopic procedure on me so he could see what we were dealing with. I arrived at the hospital in San Antonio and everything was pretty much routine as far as outpatient surgeries go. I had not contacted any family to let them know I was having the surgery. The doctor told me it was minor surgery and I would be going home the same day shortly after the surgery.

The first thing I remember after waking from the surgery was to see my husband sitting next to me. The nurse came in and told me I needed to try to sit up and drink something. I thought Ok, this is routine and going well. When I tried to sit up my head felt like there were ocean waves in there. It sounded like swoosh swoosh of waves. I couldn't hold my head up, much less sit up. When I told the nurse what I was feeling she looked worried. Then I felt myself moving and when I opened my eyes, I was told that I was being moved into the main hospital to a room. I was taken to a regular room for observation. Not long after being admitted to a regular room, I transferred to the ICU.

My first memory of being in ICU was to awaken to seeing a team of doctors around my bed. They told me I was bleeding internally and the doctors were trying to stop it without having to do surgery. My family came in from Louisiana the next day. My mother, father, brother, sister and aunt were there. My family put me on prayer lines so there were hundreds of people praying for my family and me.

Just 9 months earlier our family lost my brother and grandfather within 2 weeks of each other, and 9 months before my brother and grandfather, my aunt's son passed away. So my extended family had prayer warriors working on the situation.

For the next week, I fought for my life with every ounce of strength I had left in my mind and my body. As the days went by my body weakened in spite of all the doctors were trying to do for me. Each day I continued to endure the pain of the testing and the medications they were giving me.

When I was conscious, I would overhear the nurses and doctors talking about my condition. They could not do surgery because my organs were shutting down so quickly. They were trying drugs to stop the bleeding and they continued to give me blood to replace what was being lost.

When the doctors had done all they could they called a family meeting and told my family that they had done all they could. They were giving me four hours to regain consciousness. If nothing changed with my condition in four hours, my family would have to decide if they wanted to put me on life support. The last thing the doctors told my family was that it's up to him now while pointing to heaven.

Well, God had a different type of life support in mind for me. Yes, it was Jesus Christ.

This is how I remember what happened. I found myself sitting in the back seat of a vehicle. When I got out of the vehicle there was a man standing there that I immediately knew was Jesus. I felt like I was in the presence of someone that I had always known. My spirit felt it more than my mind did. I said, 'You're Jesus aren't you?' He gave me that smile that only Jesus can give and I knew the answer without him having to say anything. We walked and talked for a while beside the River of Life. One of the many things I loved there was that Jesus and I did not verbally speak to each other. He knew and answered my thoughts and I didn't need to open my mouth.

I caught a glimpse of his eyes, which he allowed me to do. They are the most beautiful color I had even seen. They are light brown with flecks of amber color that shines with love.

I asked Jesus 'What do you do here in Heaven?' He looked at me with this humorous smile that is beyond explanation in human words. He smiles with love that comes from every cell in his being. He said 'I do what is required of me by the Father.' I said 'OK, so what are you doing now?' Jesus said 'I am working with the Angels'. He then showed me what I can only describe as an army of Angels. There were row upon row upon row of them as far I could see. They looked like big flames of blue and white light mixed together. He said he was getting them ready. I knew what he meant without him having to explain it. When you are there, you know some things without having to ask.

As we walked back to the vehicle, I looked off into the distance behind me. I could see a line of people walking across a bridge. When they were on my side of the bridge, they looked dull. Once on the other side, they were wearing white garments and looked bright.

I looked at Jesus and asked if that was the way to Heaven. He smiled and said, 'Yes.' I then asked, 'Can I go there right now?' Jesus said 'Yes, you may go. God is ready for you anytime you are ready to go home'. I said 'Yes, I'm ready' At that point I said 'I want my husband to go with me' Jesus smiled that forever patient loving smile of his and said, 'God is not ready for him yet, he can't go with you.' So I looked at Jesus and said, 'I don't want to go to heaven without my husband, so I'm not going'.

We then walked over next to the river then Jesus took both my hands turning my palms upward. While holding my hands he said, 'I want you to remember something. You are of a royal lineage. You are a child of God. The Most High God. You live in the world, but are not of the world. Your rightful place is in heaven with the Father'. I said 'Yes, I understand'.

The whole while he was telling me this I felt like I was the most precious most loved most beloved person in existence. Next, I asked, 'Just what is your relationship to me?' Jesus said, 'I am your brother'. I said, 'I know that's what the Bible says, so it's true then?' Jesus said, 'Yes, I am your brother. We have the same blood running through our veins. I will never leave you or forsake you. I will always be there for you. Never ever forget who you are'. I just stood there looking around us for a while. He then said, 'Now go back to your bed and wake up'.

There were things that I talked about with Jesus that I did not know or believe at the time. Certain truths that I now know are:

1. A person cannot under any circumstances be in the presence of God or anywhere near the throne of God without Jesus. It is just not possible. God wants us to be near him and desires it greatly. Jesus is truly the doorway to the throne of God.

2. The Bible is the sacred living word of God given to man to help us exist in this world. The Word of God should be treated with respect and considered the utmost holy of holies in a Christian life.

There is no other truth by which our very existence is dependent on. To incorrectly use or interrupt the word of god is blasphemy. If people knew just how holy the written word of God is, there would be an Ark in every Christian home where they would keep their bible when not in use.

3. There are no human words to describe Jesus. Being in the presence of Jesus is being in the presence of pure love. Anyone can have a relationship with Jesus as long as you bring your truth to him. It is impossible to try to hide anything from Jesus.

4. Satan and demons are real. Hell is real. Demons cannot exist in the presence of Jesus. They will retreat back into the darkness they came from when Jesus appears.

Now almost 20 years after I can still feel every emotion like it was happening now.

In the past 20 years, I have been through many experience and each time Jesus was there to see me through without my knowing it was him. Many times, he saved me from either a physical, mental or spiritual death.

Five years ago Jesus said it was time for me to take a stand for what I believed. So I told Him I am going to stand with you and believe in the Bible.
