Experience Description

I was given a general anesthetic for a routine surgical procedure for my bladder. Once the anesthetic was given to me, and procedure completed, while in the recovery room attendants and doctors could not awaken me. And so on.

During this time I recall looking around the recovery room and eventually, sitting up and moving. Being curious, I looked around the room to see what it looked like noticing the medical staff working in another portion of the room. Suddenly, I saw this beautiful white light slowly coming towards me. A man who had a kind gentle face dressed in a white cloth was before me. He stood to the right side of this ever-growing light. While I began to move in his direction, he was so welcoming and only spoke to me it seemed through his eyes. He asked me if I wanted to enter the light. I was overjoyed that he had come for me and loved me so much. I can't really describe the joy or calm I felt. I wanted to go with so badly. It felt like home. Somehow it was decided for me not to go with him and I returned to my body.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Uncertain Surgery-related 'Illness, trauma or other condition not considered life threatening' I had a reaction to an anesthetic during a routine procedure.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Wonderful

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal As above.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? It was when I first saw the man and how much love and acceptance was surrounding me.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Faster than usual

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I am near sighted requiring contacts or glasses to see beyond one foot length. I saw everything in the recovery room very clearly. The man and light were somehow more than clear.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes The man in white.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes It was very white, but not any white I have seen on earth.

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes I don't feel human words can fully portray what I experienced.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No I already had experienced some ESP prior to this event.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I told my parents, but they did not believe me. As an adult I have shared my story many times.
