Experience Description

It was 5 o'clock in the evening on March 9th, 2011, on Easter Island. I was riding my scooter to work in a hotel. I was very close to my workplace when I was in an accident. I remember nothing of the accident, felt no pain, and heard no noise. I woke up in hospital at 10pm covered in tubes.

I told my wife that I had been with her deceased mother in an amazingly white corridor; she was a Rapa Nui (a native Polynesian inhabitant of Easter Island, the eastern most part of Polynesian culture. The Rapa Nui people make up 60% of Easter Island's population). She died from thrombosis that had kept her in bed for 2 years and my wife and I had looked after her. She was there with me, in that shining corridor and told me in Rapa Nui ‘Kaoho Koe’ which means ‘to return’, ‘follow your path’. She was very tall and wearing a white dress.

Whenever I remember the experience I feel very emotional. It makes me cry.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes My mother-in-law who told me to return.

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Peace.

Did you see deceased or religious spirits? I actually saw them

During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? No

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes I look at things in a more calm way. I see nature as being more colorful and more beautiful than I had known before my experience.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? No

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes After waking up I shared my experience with my wife and then with other people. They believed me and were all perplexed. It is not that they were influenced by what I told them. It is simply because they had known my mother-in-law, having lived with her in their community, that my experience was very credible to them.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real I will always remember it and I know I have a connection with my mother-in-law. It seems like yesterday that all of this happened.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real Wonderful. I know I have a guardian angel!
