Experience Description

My experience is really short. I was knocked out for a few seconds, so I do not remember if it happenend before or after the impact. I saw someone sitting in the passenger seat, but I was alone with only my dog. When another driver came to help, I came to. The first words out of my mouth was , 'Where is my friend?' The other driver said there was nobody there but me. I was confused. I SAW someone there. I saw an image that was very light but it clearly was a woman 30-40 years old. Her dark hair was pulled back. She was looking straight ahead while sitting in the passenger seat. She was wearing a black sweater and biege shorts. Although she wasn't looking right at me, I knew she was there.

She might have resembled someone I knew who was alive, but not like it was someone I really knew. As far as I know , I don't think it was a deceased person from my family. I don't know who it was, but she was there for a brief second. I thought I was just out of it, but she is still clear in my head. It gives me shivers to think about. I believe she saved me and my dog's life.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Accident. Other: Car accident from hitting a cement barrier on highway going about 65mph to avoid hitting an animal.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Both pleasant AND distressing

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Less consciousness and alertness than normal. I was just in a major impact so could not of been in a 'normal' state

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? I'm not really sure how to answer that.

Were your thoughts speeded up? No

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? No

Were your senses More vivid than usual? No

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain. Maybe when I saw her I was in a tunnel? She was all I saw.

Did you see an Unearthly light? Uncertain. The person I saw was light, almost see-through.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? relieved that the person wasn't real and that I didn't hurt anyone

What was your religion prior to your experience? Christian- Catholic I was brought up Catholic but not seriosly practicing. Although I do pray in my own way and thank God.

What is your religion now? Christian- Catholic

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience. I always tried to keep an open mind about these things. But to be honest, I was more to the side of disbelief. I do BELIEVE now!

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes I do now believe in other presences, guardian angels, or whatever people choose to call them, they are there.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin. There definitely was a person sitting next to me

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? No

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience. This is as clear in my mind as anything in life. I know what the woman looked like, what she was wearing, and where she was looking as if there was an actual person next to me.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? just that it made me believe and it is a little scary

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes A couple of days later. The first person I told was someone who would believe me, so I wouldn't be laughed at.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes always interested. But it did not, in any way, affect my experience.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. I don't know why, I just KNOW it was real.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real. It is as clear in my mind as anything that ever happened in my life
