Experience Description

I was at the local beach with my sister. It was a balmy summer day with waves about three feet high. I had decided to go into the water, which was warm. I then went body surfing. I started tumbling under the water. I kept trying to right myself but could not. Suddenly, I was watching myself roll. I was not upset I felt peace. I was in a large expanse of black watching my life flash before me. I looked down and somehow I was righted upwards.

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Normal consciousness and alertness As above.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? I felt as though I was at normal consciousness but not really sure.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning It seemed like forever but only minutes at the same time.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. My life was shown to me very quickly but as I came back I realized I was only under the water for a few minutes.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No It was more like a black room/void.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did scenes from your past come back to you? My past flashed before me, out of my control It was like three movie screens flashing all the moments in my life moving very quickly. No I did not learn anything that I am aware of.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes I have been visited many times by my father who passed two years ago.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes Thirty-five years I have shared the visits with many but not my earlier situation with many, mostly just my husband.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real It was real. It was not a dream I felt it in my mind like it was yesterday.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real I can feel things that others know. I can see things before they happen. I have experienced others passing coming to visit me. Thus I know this happened.
