Experience Description

I was brought to the Hospital by my mother because of an acute asthma attack. I suddenly felt light and I floated. I saw my mother from above rubbing my hands and pleading to the nurses to take care of me as my hands suddenly became cold and limp. At that moment, I blacked out and as sudden, as there was darkness a light shines through very bright but not blinding. I saw a closed gate suddenly opened and clouds rising around it. As I entered the gate I heard a voice telling me' Go back, Bernardette (not the name I use but Bernardita). It is not time yet. You have not met me yet.' At that instant I was revived with an injection.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Allergic reaction 'Life threatening event, but not clinical death' . It was an asthmatic attack and it was the first time that an injection was done.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Wonderful

I clearly left my body and existed outside it

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Did your hearing differ in any way from normal? The voice I heard is not spoken . It was a voice of your subconscious. As if it was a telepathic communication

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes It was very light but not blinding. It's like looking at the clouds without blinking

What emotions did you feel during the experience? It was awesome. You feel light as if the burden of illness had left you.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Yes An old steel gate. I was about to cross the boundary when a voice told me to go back.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will

Have you ever shared this experience with others? No I shared it with Prof. Jaime after 10 years in 1988. It was the first time I heard of NDEs
